For sale in our next auction in Monaco on July 2nd 2017.

French title
Chassis n° B24S - 1565
Engine B24 n°1744

- In the same family since 1968!
- Original colour scheme
- Rarity, elegance and refinement

As always with Lancia, the design of this car is special, particularly as it was the last model produced in collaboration with Vittorio Jano. Its 2. 5-litre V6 engine produced 115 bhp and to improve the weight distribution, the gearbox was mounted with the rear transaxle. In coupé form, the Aurelia B20 asserted its driving qualities incontrovertibly by winning the most prestigious rallying events, including the Liège-Rome-Liège, Targa Florio and the Monte-Carlo. The open B24 Spider America version appeared in 1955. It was very expensive, costing twice as much as a Jaguar XK 140, and was not as successful as anticipated. The following year Lancia replaced it with the Convertible, with the same sublime styling, penned by Francesco Martinengo for Pininfarina, but with a better level of equipment. Boasting roll-up windows and waterproof hood, the Aurelia B24 finally fulfilled its status as a highly luxurious cabriolet. Adding to its refinement is the rarity of this model, since only 521 of them were manufactured.
This particular car began to be assembled on 28 February 1958, whereas its production final output test only occurred on 23 April 1958. The registration document shows the car as being registered in France on 17 October 1958, 5 days after the end of the Paris Motor Show. Certain sources had indicated to the owner that it was the example presented by Lancia at the 1958 Paris Motor Show, information which we did not succeed in confirming. It bears then a celestial blue colour complemented with natural leather interior. It was in 1968 that the father of the current owners purchased and registered it. As a merchant navy engineer during the 1970s, he took charge of its mechanical overhaul and decided to paint the car. After having covered many miles, the Aurelia went on to be newly restored during the years 2000. The paint was redone in the original colour, as well as the natural leather upholstery and the dark green convertible top. The mechanical part was serviced by this dedicated owner himself. Following his death in 2011, the car remained unused before being serviced in 2017.
With a superb colour combination, this Lancia today has a fine patina, it also disposes of its black hard top in original condition (which can be retrieved from the current owners) and comes with an extensive amount of documentation and several spare parts. The finely crafted convertible top is in nice condtion whereas chrome parts would require a bit of care. This rare convertible will undoubtedly charm enthusiasts by its elegance and unmatched refinement, by virtue of its clear history and seamless overall condition.

Auction estimate: €220 000/€280 000

Châssis n° B24S - 1565
Moteur B24 n°1744

- Dans la même famille depuis 1968 !
- Coloris d'origine
