New baby = sale of my treasured '83 bmw 323i baur For Sale (1983)Background
i’m selling my precious 1983 original e30 323i baur convertible.
it’s in great condition and has original 2.3 straight six engine, paint work etc.
i’ve had this car for the last 6 years and she has been a dream. As a london run-around or for grand-tours across europe. She runs beautifully and – to be honest – is a guaranteed head turner / conversation starter.
genuine reason for sale - ie the pregnancy bump belt on the passenger side in the photos – i need to ‘downgrade’ to a family orientated vehicle. That said – i am in no immediate rush. So no stupid offers please.
she’s unique, a very rare right-hand drive 1983 baur targa convertible. There are lots of google-able histories on the background to this collaboration but essentially all bmw 3 series convertibles before ’86 were created – under official bmw licence – by baur.
i’ve only put approx 10,000 miles on the clock in the time i’ve had her. So she still sits at an impressive and genuine 83,000 miles for a car her age.
non-private plate but with ‘x323 xxx’ selected in the registration as a nice exclusive extra.
i have full documentation and service history and she has an mot until
pristine versions of this car (many with higher mileage) go for around £10,000, and if i had the time i would garage and renovate myself, but as stated earlier i don’t have time for a long term project with my new addition to the family.
while the engine is pretty perfect there are obviously signs of aging and i want to be very transparent in this sale.
the bodywork needs some work. There’s some rust around the wheel arches, a few chips and bubbles in various spots, a crack on of the rear-lights from a mystery on-street parker and some small patches of mould on the hood.
also some of the lights in the overhead electric control panel need replacing, but it’s a small job.
north-london pick up. No time-waster please.you either want a unique, classic or you don’t.
