Land RoverŪ 90 in Nato Green (FDX) *Ex-Military* SOLD (1986)
|For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land RoverŪ 90 in Nato Green ((1986) - released 2011)|
MOT until 9th December 2017 (no advisories). One former keeper since release from Forces in 2011. Diesel 2495cc.
Here for sale we have a rather handsome Land Rover 90, supplied by Withams on 17/11/2011 and comes with the despatch note showing the military registration as 78-KF-50. This is interesting as a full operating history could be researched - the key ring supplied shows the vehicle registration and that it was part of the 225 Medical Regt (V). The MOT's since release show the mileage currently at 142,228 Km - around 88,376 miles from new, which is incredibly low for a vehicle over 30 years old! As was often the case, this vehicle received periodic engine rebuilds - this was done to always make them battle ready - and this one last had a recon engine in 2003, which is documented by the military data plate on the engine. The logbook has been updated to reflect this, and it's a like for like replacement. There are lots of recent receipts for maintenance, one of which was for a new head gasket in 2012, amongst other things....so in addition to the fastidious military maintenance for the bulk of its life, it has also been improved for the short life in civilian hands. These factors help perhaps explain how this vehicle has survived in the condition as photographed.
On the outside, this vehicle is adorned with all the cool military kit one would hope to acquire with a vehicle of this type - from the pioneer tools, bumperettes, whip aerial, rock sliders, military tyres, fuel carrier, nato hitch and lamp guards - and this is cleverly enhanced by the subtle addition of modern LED lights fitted to the front bumper top and forward face, plus rear spots too. These lights are very bright and should prove invaluable for reversing and in winter, supplementing the older, not so bright lights!
The interior of this truck is very civilised with comfy seats and cubby box - nice to see instead of old and torn worn out seats! The military touches continue with correct switch gear, and various fittings. The rear is unfitted but extra seating and/or side windows could be inserted if so required.
Out on the road, the well maintained, low mileage statistics make for a vehichle which runs as it should despite its advancing years. In fact, due to the fact that this vehicle has only had 5 years on UK roads, the chassis is in unusually sound order for age, having only had very minimal repair to both front outriggers, and a rear cross member with extensions fitted. It's therefore a vehicle one could purchase with a long term view to ownership before a replacement chassis might be needed.
In summary, if you are looking for an old school military 90 - simple to maintain in an amateur capacity - cheap classic and military insurance, lower road fund - culminating in a low annual spend for the regular motoring bills then this is worth considering. Being a matching numbers (engine and chassis numbers matching the logbook) this vehicle is exportable to the USA.
