An outstanding Land Rover Discovery 3 with one owner and 23,659 miles.
Two-piece asymmetric tailgate, auto Bi-Xenon headlights with powerwash, puddle lamps, auto wipers, heated front screen and washer jets, satellite navigation, electronic park brake, Terrain Response, 7-seats, air suspension, high resolution 7-inch LCD touch-screen, PDC, cruise control, electric memory seats, heated front and rear seats, eight airbags, six-CD in dash changer, Harman/kardom eight speaker sound system, climate control, illuminated vanity mirrors. Factory Options: Auto gearbox, Tow Pack, 19inch alloys. Accessories: Side-steps, Land Rover rubber mats, Land rover load space protector.
The bold geometric design of this Discovery 3 finished in subtle pearlescent Java Black, (Code LRC 697), is absolutely stunning. A deep gloss eye-catching shine has been maintained due to the low mileage and one fastidious pampering owner from new. Every large panel is unmarked and the plastics damage free. Short front and rear overhangs for peerless off-road capability have never been explored in this example and even the supplying dealer number plates and rear window sticker have been retained. Optional side-steps fitted from new are undamaged and only the rear TDV6 badging shows a little discolouration. All lens covers are crystal clear and the glass is still the Pilkington Optikool tint as fitted by the factory when new. A truly cossetted, capable and collectable Land Rover.
With such minimal careful use by the only owner from new, the Ebony leather to all seven stadium style seating is unworn and even the Land Rover ‘care of your leather upholstery’ tag remains tied to the headrest! The generous glass area and elevated driving position gives a commanding view of the surroundings and all the luxury specification fitted as standard masks the off-road capability of this iconic model. The carpeting, including the boot area, has been protected by genuine Land Rover rubber mats and only a tiny nick to the drivers seat base is barely visible. Door shuts and hinged areas are spotlessly clean. This Discovery has escaped the normal abuse from hard daily use and presents itself in enthusiast, unmodified condition. Remarkable.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The TDV6 engine with a capacity of 2720cc produces 189bhp and a thumping 440Nm of torque at just 1,900rpm. A top speed of 112mph and 0-60mph in 11 secs are quoted. Despite the low mileage of just 23,659 miles an incredible 12 service entries are recorded. The engine bay is pristine and displays all Land Rover warning stickers and identity stampings. The optional 6-speed adaptive automatic gearbox allows smooth, refined and relaxed progress with sport and manual modes available if preferred.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Optional 19inch 6-spoke alloy wheels with the Sparkle Silver Land Rover centre caps are unmarked. Matching Goodyear Wrangler 225/55 R19 tyres all dated December 2016 and have full tread. Ventilated disc brakes front and rear have four channel ABS, and Electronic Brake Assist, (EBA), for safe assured stopping power.
An amazing history file waits to be presented to the second owner. Supplied by Merlin Land Rover in Nottingham on the 14th March 2005, (thus benefitting from the lower road tax), to the only owner from new, Mrs Angela Judith Barton-Hanson. The new car invoice reveals a total price of £39,807 was paid for this high specification model and full service history confirms the incredibly low 23,659 miles covered. Visiting the supplying Dealer, (called Stratstone from 2006), a total of nine times for servicing with the last Main Dealer visit being in 2015. Specialist servicing thereafter has been carried out with the final invoice amongst all the others on the 27th June 2017. Every scrap of documentation ever supplied and subsequently given during the upkeep has been retained. All old tax discs are included. Full POS literature from 2005 makes fascinating reading and will appeal to the perfection seeking collector wanting the full package. Both sets of keys on supplying Dealer green leather fobs and all handbooks are included. Splendid in all respects and difficult to find.
MOT February 2018, HPI Clear.
