BEAUTIFUL LATE MODEL CHIMAERA 500, LOW MILEAGE For Sale (2000)As I have always wanted a Griffith and feel that I will never have one unless I do it soon, I have decided to sell my beloved Chimaera 500.
This is my second Chimaera and fourth TVR. It is finished with camel yellow bodywork and prussian blue interior. The car is in immaculate condition with only a few very minor stonechips and the interior shows little sign of wear. The yellow dials compliment the undamaged wood veneer dashboard and yellow stitching sets off the interior. There are Leven pedals, stalks and handbrake lever.
The hood is in excellent leak free condition although the car only gets wet when being washed or caught in a shower.
The factory fitted Estoril alloy wheels are near mint with a matching set of Toyo tyres that have covered about 5K miles.
Supplied new on 15/06/2000 by Hexham Horseless carriages, this car has been serviced by them for the first14 years of it's life. TVR Ecosse then carried out a full service at 26k miles shortly before I bought. I have had the car for two years and the present mileage is a genuine 31700. In my ownwership there have been two engine oil changes and also a diff and gearbox fluid replacement. The gearbox has been rebuolt by TVR Power to cure a synchromesh problem and a new AP clutch was fitted as a matter of course. This is surprisingly light for a TVR. The alloy radiator began to leak this year and a new Radtec one has been fitted along with a new thermostat and otter switch. Quality grooved discs were fitted before I got the car and the chassis is in excellent condition although it is about due a new coat of waxoyl.
The current MOT expires in May 2018.
Naturally the car drives as a TVR should with plenty of power from the 5 litre engine. Being a late model car it benefits from a cross bolted block with larger crank journals. This is a bonus as the early cars are noted for weak crankshafts. Another plus is the S10 tailhousing on the gearbox which provides a more direct gearchange than the cumbersome TVR linkage.
To sum up this is a lovely unmolested car in immaculate condition. With only around 600 five litre cars made this is the rarest of all Chimaeras.
I have had several enquiries regarding the price without the number plate.I have revised the asking price and the car will now be sold with a "W" registration. The number plate is however available by separate negotiation.
Any questions please ask. This is a genuine private sale so no time wasters or tyre kickers please.
