Lotus Eclat 1979, Excellent chassis. For SaleA 1979 Lotus Eclat that seems to be rarer than the Elite to find.
This one is an excellent basis for a restoration as it has
obviously had a replacement chassis!
Normally these rot badly at the rear suspension crossmember but I
was surprised to find this one solid. Further along the chassis you can see
(In photo) how clean it is and obviously not the original.
The body has no damage or stress cracks but will need a respray, no osmosis though but generally
it's very scratched. Below the black trim line the paint is very good,so you could get away with respraying the top half.
The light pods are not fitted just in situ. A popular conversation is to convert to MX5 light motors-
the pods are a pain to remove so maybe just as well they are out already! I have the front bumper but no indicators to go with it.
The engine has its Dellorto Carbs in situ only, with no choke or throttle connected but to test I poured a little fuel down the intakes and the car fired up and ran for the duration of the fuel supply.
Ignition on and fuel comes out of the pipe where it would connect to the carbs,
so the pump works (being in the boot).
Interior is just loosely in, but the dash is ok, will need carpet etc and a good clean over, scruffy.
The car rolled freely but the brake pads have stuck on at the rear now. It's moveable as it's on dolly's which I will include to menouver if they won't free.
Brake pedal operates though as does the handbrake, so not too bad.
The clutch pedal feels good too and the gearstick selects.
So it's a scruffy looking car, but has a lot of potential -
I would prefer a Lotus to have a good chassis with poor paint
than the other way round!
I have hpi checked the car and all is clear. Reg plate CPM700T.
MoT history checker actually shows it was MOT'd in 2006.
New style V5.
I actually have an Eclat too that I am restoring so happy
to chat about the car!
A good price for a classic lotus...
