Volkswagen type 2 Bay Camper 1972 fully Restored For SaleThis is the sale of my Volkswagen Type 2 Baywindow crossover 1972 right hand drive. I have had this van for nearly 3 years and nearly all that time I have been restoring it. The idea was to have a fully restored camper for us go on holiday in. The van took so long to get round life has changed, with a little boy, another one on the way and needing a house deposit we have decided to sell. The van has had so much work its going to be easer to bullet point it.

•Engine removed, stripped to a short block, cleaned, rebuilt with new push rod tubes, full new gasket set, new dizzy, new points, condenser, cap arm, leads plugs, oil, repainted tinware, 32/36 weber carb, valve gaps set, new crank oil seal, used heat exchangers and new exhaust. This engine runs like a dream 1600cc starts every time with no smoke at all.
•Gear box removed, cleaned, new bell housing gasket, new input shaft seal, new oil, new selector bushes, EMPI short shift, 4 new CV gaiters. This 4 speed box changes gear perfectly and never pops out of gear.
•Brakes stripped, new front discs and pads front flexi pipes, new rear drums, shoes and flexi pipes, All of the copper hard brake pipes replaced and system blead with new fluid. The braking system is pretty much new.
•Rear end has been lowered 1 spline with new torsion arm inner and outer bushes
•Front beam has been stripped and is rust free. Adjusters fitted so ride height is adjustable. New ball joints and link arm fitted.
•Recon steering box ( no proof of this but feels lovely for a steering box )
•Wheels shot blasted, Painted, genuine hub caps and brand new tyres.
•Wiring loom returned back to stock ( removing peoples add ons over the years )
•Dash painted ( no extra holes in dash)
•New Ply lining in the rear
•Fully carpeted including pop top to professional standard
•Stock dormobile interior refitted which is in very good condition with original features including foot pump for water, sink with plug, cool box, cupboards, wardrobe, bed, table, 2 bunk beds and other storage.
•Laminate floor fitted
•Retrimmed front seats
•New vinyl on rear cushions

•LED light that operates on opening the front doors.
•Roof removed carpeted resealed with all nuts and bolts swapped for stainless, new seals and tie downs.
The inside of this van a nice place to be with everything working as it should including the heating system controlled at the dash as well as the cooling vents.
I think a have pretty much covered its possible forgot some things. The van passed its MOT with no advisors and drives very well. There are a couple of tiny marks on it here and there but you would have to be looking hard. You do need to still bare in mind that even with all this work this van is 45 years old. Get attention all the time and should need nothing for a long time. There probably is not to many RHD tax exempt vans like this one left. Everything works on this van. Comes with a massive folder of receipts. I have more photos if needed.
I would recommend that you have a inspection done on the van before buying as this is a private sold as seen sale with no warranty implied or given.
