1933 - Delage D6 cabriolet by Letourneur & Marchand For Sale by Auction

The model which we are offering for sale is a rare Delage D6-11 Cabriolet Mylord from 1933, with bodywork by Letourneur & Marchand. This French coachbuilder, which was already in business during the first decade of the century, began to stand out at the start of the 1930s thanks to its slender, perfectly proportioned creations. Based in Neuilly-sur-Seine, the company soon got itself noticed and built bodies on chassis from Duesenberg, Hispano-Suiza, Minerva and Rolls-Royce for the great and the good. As well as being elegantly styled, this left-hand drive Mylord convertible may be driven with its hood in one of three different positions: completely closed, fully open or just rolled back above the driver, leaving the passengers sheltered from the wind in a rear compartment worthy of the most prestigious cars of the time. A solid, complete car to begin with, it was fully restored from the chassis up in the 2000s by its previous owner. As he wished to use the car regularly with his family, it was fitted at this time with a 2-litre, 115bhp Opel engine and a five-speed gearbox, while the original brakes were replaced by new ones from a Mercedes.

Naturally, all the original parts have been kept and the conversion can be reversed, in the knowledge that the original Delage engine and gearbox have been rebuilt. Recorded in an extensive file, the work carried out, owner’s manuals and parts stocklist may be consulted with a view to restoring this car to its original specification. In its current ownership since 2012, the car has taken part in many rallies organised by the club ‘Les Amis de Delage’ and has been displayed on numerous occasions at classic car events. Its owner told us with some amusement that he was the only person able to drive to the starting point of these rallies from his home in south-east France. In perfect mechanical condition, complete with all its interior fittings and incredibly beautiful, this Delage will give its new owner the chance to restore it easily to its original specification, or to enjoy all the charm of a pre-war car with the peace of mind and reliability of a modern vehicle …
