1932 Eustace Watkins Daytona Special Wolseley For Sale

Genuine 1932 Eustace Watkins Daytona Special Wolseley Hornet.

A rare opportunity to own a well maintained on the road example of a Eustace Watkins Daytona Special Wolseley Hornet.

Sensibly priced car, great for VSCC events etc

Reason for selling is that I have just too many cars so I just don’t find the time to drive the Hornet regularly.

Owned for 25 years by the previous owner it has been continually on the road since the mid 1990’s. Tastefully well maintained over the years and not over restored, which makes it rare these days. As a result, it has retained many of its original features that are commonly replaced over the years, which include the original reverse H gate crash 4 speed gearbox, throttle in the middle, starter button on gearbox remote and many others.

This Hornet is not a high end fully restored example which is reflected in the price, this car is a well maintained honest practical example of the marque, which retains most of its original features.

Great car to drive, up to you, either drive it as is and enjoy it or restore it to a high end example.

The original 6 cylinder, 1271 cc engine is mounted on the original chassis, the engine sounds wonderful, it pulls well and maintains a constant oil pressure and water temperature on longer runs.

The car has a tonneau cover and new hood (purchased by the previous owner).

This sanction 65 ‘Daytona Special’ was originally supplied by Eustace Watkins registered in September 1932, coach built by Whittingham and Mitchell coachworks for Eustace Watkins. The original registration of 2 alpha 4 numeric is found on other Hornets sold by Eustace Watkins of the period, whose showrooms were in Berkeley Street, Mayfair, London W1.

The car is in a very good and roadworthy condition but not concourse. The interior is original and still servicable and remarkably comfortable for an old car. The running board is also an original feature. I believe the car was restored in 1985 to a good specification. The car is MOT exempt. I have owned the car for ...
