2005 Stunning and Rare MG ZT V6 190 SE, FSH! For Sale
First, the spec. Only 151 V6 190 SE’s were ever made, and today only 80 of those remain on the roads in use. This is a rare car, as only 11 SE’s were finished in Firefrost Red. Fully refurbished 18” Apex Alloy wheels, sat on 2 front Pirelli and 2 rear Kuhmo tyres with lots of tread left. Interior is lit up by the unmarked heated Gunsmoke Alcantara seats with black leather inserts. This is a top spec ZT, the more common + model is missing lots of equipment that really should’ve been included, but the SE wants for nothing– this thing is fully loaded. Highlights include front and rear electric windows, remote central locking (both keys present), electric sunroof, heated electric door mirrors, Xenon headlights with powerwash and auto levelling, heated screen washer jets, automatic wipers, rear parking sensors, alarm, auto dimming rear mirror, cruise control, and message centre with computer. There’s plenty more, but that gives you an idea of the level of spec this thing has. And crucially, IT ALL WORKS!!
And worthy of a special mention is the fully functioning Highline Navigation System, set alongside the standard glovebox mounted six disc autochanger and... the rare Harman Kardon premium sound system! It is immense, 180W 6 channel amplifier and 10 speakers including the boot mounted sub-woofer. If you enjoy your music, you’ll appreciate this!
So, on to what I have done to get this car detailed correctly...
The IPK screen has been professionally de-lined, as it was unreadable when I got the car. Now, perfectly clear.
The cruise control wasn’t working, now fully functioning.
New door actuator for offside rear, it wouldn’t lock, now does.
New rear window trim (from Rimmer Bros) as this was cracked and broken, now it looks as new.
New MG Rover Group branded number plates, with correct smiley shape (with ZT appropriate indent to accommodate the MG boot badge) rear plate. This sets the car off a treat, and makes it look youthful and original.
Sunroof blind was not sliding correctly when opened, has been disassembled, aligned to its runners and reassembled, now works perfectly.
Offside rear light housing had inconsistent functionality, this has been removed, repaired and now all lights work as they should.
New near side rear door cantrail trim, with new OEM Union & Checkered flags placed on the D-pillars.
Tired and ugly mudflaps removed. I have acquired new wheel arch trim finishers from Rimmer Bros to complete this correctly, but I have not had time to fit, though the parts and fixings are included in the sale (obviously!)
New OEM MG alloy wheel centre caps, as the ones on there were not correct. Now look as they should. New boot floor handle, as this was broken when I got the car.
New windscreen washer pump fitted and working perfectly, this was not functioning when I got the car.
Handbrake fixed, no longer have to pull it round your ears to get it to work, now nice and taught.
New Thermostat and associated pipework. There was a small leak from a cracked thermostat housing when I got the car, this has now been replaced by an MG Rover specialist, who have also compression tested it and signed it off, having checked it over and allayed any fears of head gasket failure.
New Rover 75 fabric sunvisors, the old plastic MG ones were not befitting of the luxurious interior. All that is required now is to wire them in to get the mirror courtesy light to operate.
New original MG logo mats, which finish off the interior ambience perfectly!
So as you can see, I have put lots of time and effort into what was already a great car to bring this up to best in class standard. I have had help from a friend of mine who is somewhat an expert, and all the work carried out has been done so properly. This is a solid, well specced, well loved example of a rare car, that absolutely goes like a rocketship! The engine purrs, the gearbox is smooth and tight, the brakes leave your face on the windscreen, the clutch bites perfectly, the list just goes on and on.
This is a special, guaranteed modern classic, and one that I intended on keeping, which is why I have put the work in. But regrettably my circumstances have changed and I have to let her go, so don’t miss this chance!
