FORMOSA 120 GR

This is a bodyshell and internal framework to primarily fit a Triumph Herald or Vitesse chassis and running gear .

The one pictured is a 1962 Vitesse based example and is for kit illustration purposes and not part of the items being offered for sale.

The body is based on many of the iconic race cars from the fantastic period of racing that was the 1950's. An evocation of that era and not a specific replica of any particular manufacturer or model , rather a combination of many styling cues that enable it to resemble several cars from that time.
Cars that now change hands for 7 figure sums.

By not being a replica , as such , there is no issue with branding copyrights and intellectual property claims that have caused problems for many replica builders and owners in the past ...

The bodyshell is offered as a double gel'd , 6 oz. layup with return edges on most panels and some cor-matted area's to add rigidity .

The body comes as a main body tub in one piece , a flip style front bonnet , 2 separate doors and a bootlid.
The headrest and dashboard are integral to the main body tub itself.

The body is fitted to the Triumph's chassis using our internal space frame augmentation - a supporting structure which when fixed to your chassis returns the structural strength lost by removing the original bodyshell.
The round tube styling allows the frame to be left exposed if desired to give the look and feel of a space framed car.

PLEASE NOTE :- THE PRICE LISTED IS FOR THE BODYSHELL ONLY , THE FRAMEWORK IS AN ADDITIONAL ITEM.

The style of build , utilizing a stock , unmodified chassis from a classic vehicle means these cars are not classified as a 'kit car' or 'replica build' , they are ''re-bodies'' .... as such , they retain their 8 points as DVLA legislation requires and are still entitled to wear their original vin no. , original registration number , they still retain classic car status and have no V5c restrictions ....everything as it was before the body change . You are required to update your V5c when the new body is fitted , but this is a very simple , paperwork exercise and no fee attached to it.

This isn't a new concept ..its been proven several times by cars built in a similar vein.
It will be virtually unaffected by next years changes relating to Vehicles of Historic Interest ( VHI )
They are often easier to register in European countries than many conventional 'kit cars'

The bodyshell being supplied as an outer skin style will also allow it to fit an alternative chassis , if Triumph isn't your thing ...These shells are over 4'' wider than similar offerings like the Sammio etc. and fuller in the rump and longer in the nose , giving them a much greater presence and more room for people and powertrain options.

The wheelbase can be altered fairly easily , not a complete job for a novice , but reasonably straightforward for someone who has used fibreglass materials before .
Please be aware ..it will not fit any donor ..its not a miracle , one size fits all body ...but there are options ..notably a Scimitar SE5 chassis would fit under there with a few inches added to the front to lengthen the wheelbase ...or some old kit cars , Spartans . Locost etc.

The bodyshells are supplied in red gel coat finish , similar to the last picture on the listing.
The frames are supplied in a red oxide primer.

Bodyshells start at the price shown ...any alterations would need to be priced individually.
currently only available as a RHD option ( most vintage race cars of this ilk were RHD for track safety reasons amongst other stuff )

Lead time is approx 3 weeks at present.
A deposit of 500 is required on a bodyshell.

TURN KEY AND PART BUILDS ARE AVAILABLE , BUT PRICES AND LEAD TIMES WILL OBVIOUSLY VARY - So please message me for further details.
