1971 Bentley T1

once upon a time, in a place of legends, there was a vehicle that when wafting down the road would turn the heads of all onlookers who would beseech the driver with wonder in their eyes and a wave to demonstrate their heartfelt appreciation for keeping such a beauty alive and in her glory... that time and location? yesterday 3:38 on the a406!!!!

yes, we are not in 1971, the year of birth of this ultra rare bentley t1, but here today! the condition of this car is simply outstanding and would have you believe that it has just rolled off the production line at crewe. presented in the very desirable and very rare brewster green. the car has the lines of old that simply cant be penned today. the green is rich and alive and its exemplified with, wait for it, twin hand painted coach lines. just wonderful! how often do you see a car on the roads today? bar a lesion in the paintwork on the wing of a 50p coin size and some re-chroming needed on a small section on the front bumper, the cars condition is just outstanding. wrapping the car is the chrome bumpers front and rear and like a fine print also furnish the headlight surrounds, with their bentley 'b' badges, the boot clasp and door handles alike. and of course and most importantly that monolithic front grill and 'flying b' badge. remember, the t2 had rubber whereas the chrome encrusted t1 models are more sought after. and in terms of rarity the similar rolls royce silver shadow sold at a 10 to 1 ratio to this t1 model, so as an investment, your pounds and shillings are safe here... and in relation to the rr, the bentley t1's bonnet was a few centimetres lower at the front and the grill being more bevelled rounded the front sets the cars stance off nicer.

also this car came with two engine choices the 6230cc or the 6750cc. this example, of course has the latter. and what an engine it is too. pulling this weighty machine plus occupants uphill without effort like cars of today, yet with the distinction of being an early '71 motor vehicle. the gear changes are whisper quiet and cannot be felt by driver or occupants alike. entering the cabin using the chrome door handles, you know when seeing the width of the doors themselves its a safe place to be. closing the door simply confirms this with its precise & reassuring note. and once on the inside, the amazement continues. remembering that we are now 38 years past its birthday, this t1's interior is as near faultless as i have seen. there are the tiniest, and i mean mm long, nicks on the front wooden door plinths where the seatbelt strikes, but they simply add to the intrigue of whom has driven or been driven in this machine previous to yourself. additionally the fully working factory 8 track provides a sound track of your choice on your journeys!!!

the leather is fantastic. in a rich hue of auburn brown with a dash of tan, its showroom. no rips, burns or marks to mention. it really is simply breathtaking when opening the door to reveal how time warped it is. the seats, seat backs, rear bench seats, roof lining, arm rest additional front support are in just fantastic condition. and when you take your eyes off those to cast them upon the hand stitched black leather dash board, not a single crack of weathering or marking to be seen. the instrument clusters are 100% operational and all illuminate making night time driving a safe pleasure with the gear selector binnacle too a very bright green. the lucas amp meter and smiths fuel gauge too work as they are meant too, as does the electric windows, dropping and raising quickly and silently, and not cumbersome and slow as many unkempt models, along side the central locking operated from the drivers or passenger side door buttons, of course such a prestigious vehicle comes with power steering but it also has the front armrests and the front cubby hole leatherette cover and wait for it....electric seats! remember this car was made in 1971!!!! oh and how dare i forget the lambswool over rugs that furnish each of the four passenger foot wells with the rear occupants having the foot rests too. the chrome handbrake level and bentley 'b' ordain the brake pedal also.

the car has always been cared for and cherished and will be coming with a battery conditioner that means you simply flick a switch in the boot to make sure that the battery's charge is not drained and ensures the car starts after it is left for a while.

all in all this rare colour, rare car, rarely seen in this condition bentley t1 offers not only an appreciating asset, but the pleasure that only such a beautiful example of a marque can instil.

and if you were to be that fairytale new owner, you truly will......live happily ever after....
