1959 Very rare Vickers Lunedale caravan For Sale

First thing. If you seriously do not know what this is, or know anything about Harry Vickers and the British caravan history re 1950's early 1960's, especially that of a Lunedales, please go and do your thorough research first.

I rescued this about a 10 years ago as it was all beaten up and unloved, and it has now taken 6 years + and £'000's to get it to this condition, as I am stickler for correctness and authenticity.

The outside is now finished, other than a really good 2 x coats of paint in two tone (as per your research).
The windows are excellent now all the original catches work, the new roof lights are all authentic clear thick plastic....(try & find them in the right size today!) so they were made to order, and the new aluminum panels was all hand cut and rolled beaten and shaped to make it perfect. Yes... we found an old ally hand roller for 3 to 5mm ally...! The place that dd the work has sadly now closed down/ retired.

The door is perfect, the new lock works, the chassis is is now 100% straight, strengthened and strengthened (again from your research you will know they bend over time).

The jobs left to do... are:-

1. Paint the van (£3000 or so for a really good job).
2. Re wire the van as we have not got to the interior as you can see.
3. Fit a new tow hitch.... if you are going to tow this. 4x4 landy just wont do. this is 2. 5 tons +
4. Fit a re claimed wood burning stove in the chimney breast....
5. Decide what internal fit out and then use oak veneered ply which is was what was/ is in here. The is '60s melamine on the ceiling, and you could re work this to oak veneered ply as this was an option when these were new. (research).

This would make a stunning office, hide out, very posh children's play den, or as it should be, an utterly awesome vintage caravan for use as it should be. NB: towing can only be by a lorry or cab truck due to the size and weight of this.

Yes all the gas lamps etc are in it..... seriously!
Yes the sink etc is there.
Yes the wiring is shot.
The wheels are original land rover... need a couple of nuts & bolts.

To move this, you can use the same company I did as you must use an Ultra Low Slide Bed, due to the shape of the van. No you can not tow it.

I am only selling this as I am moving abroad..... even thought to take it with me in truth as I have only found 3 of these in 10 years, 1 mint, 1 a rot box in Cornwall, and this one.
