1961 Raleigh Runabout RM4 Presented today in its original but excellent condition . Only the minimum cosmetic work has been carried out upon this RM4 . A seat was required and was manufactured to original pattern . Recommisioned and running superbly , New tyres , Carburetor sonically cleaned , New plug , fluids etc . Supporting invoice supplied along with original tools and handbook . A quick wiz round on the pedals and the little 49cc two stroke motor bursts into life leaving you in a cloud of two stroke fumes ! Off you go , if the winds in the right direction I am told 35MPH can be achieved , although not fast they do make you smile . The Raleigh Runabout was born out of the need of cheap and economical Post War transport . The first Model the RM1 was launched in 1958 at the "Savoy Hotel" , London , Later R model followed using the Norman 3K motor , Then a Saches and the RM4 and 5 being license-built Mobylette models . The range stopped at RM12 in 1969 . We have the RM4 on offer finished in Charcoal and Pearl grey if not a bit faded ! An automatic moped with damping by telescopic forks . The basic package cost £59 1 17s . So a classic little Raleigh Moped supplied with a well researched history , Supporting invoicing , Original Green log book showing SGV992 to be its original registration number , A 1970 showing a license fee of £2 / 10s (if only) and V5C showing 3 former keepers . Beautifully restored 1967 Raleigh Wisp. Interesting and rare bit of kit and so retro it's a kind of cross between a pushbike and a moped that Raleigh produced just for a short time which has some early pre Chopper styling with the handlebars and front end. Raleigh fitted these with a classic French "Mobylette" 2 stroke ...
