Mission Motorsport is the Forces' Motorsport Charity, we work with and for Help for Heroes taking Servicemen and Women in recovery through our programme working in, on and often under race cars.
We use our own Mk 1 Mazda MX-5s for the majority of what we do, arguably a modern classic themselves, but also have an eclectic mix of 'stuff' in the workshop, from Ford Sierra Cosworth rally cars right through to Ford Falcon V8 supercars!
The Race of Rememnbranc is our first foray into actually running a race weekend (rather than just jumping onto other peoples!) We've a whole host of stuff going on, from auto-tests and go-karts in the paddock, through to drift, race and supercars as part of our SUPERCAR SATURDAY where you can experience flying laps in ANY of the cars there.
We've even borrowed some ex-F1 cars, namely a V8 Lotus 101 and a Minardi V10 M198 that will also be pushing some laps out!
Then there's the Sunday race, eight hours and everything from Lotus BRITCAR entries, right down to 20 year old MX-5s and an Alfa 75 that we expect to achieve at least three laps!!!
Then, as we approach 11:00am, we pause the race for our own Remembranc Parade in the pit-lane (along with Army Chaplain and elsh male voice choir of course) befor ewe hop back into the 30-strong entry list to complete the race around 4:30.
