The Ford prefect was introduced in 1938, the design was the first to be designed outside of Detroit USA and unique to the British market, built at the plant in Dagenham, Essex this was the start of the British love affair with the homegrown family car.
This example only has three owners, the original owner purchased the vehicle in June 1960 and had it in his possession up until 2012 when he passed away. The vehicle was left to his neighbour who is the current owners brother, they exchanged the vehicle and the car has been lovingly cared for and maintained by the seller. The car was in storage from 1995 to 2012 and upon purchasing the vehicle the seller brought the car up to a superb standard, cosmetically and mechanically.
The paperwork is extensive for this vehicle, the original owner was an engineer and due to his attention to detail he has boxes of spare parts which were always kept in his boot, just in case of an emergency! Tax discs, MOT’s, parts and service details are present alongside the original price list and instruction manuals. The original bill of sale and warranty paperwork is also included to add to the authenticity of the car.
This car's interior is just as immaculate as the exterior, with new red vinyl seats, kick panels, parcel shelf, complete new carpet sets and door rubbers which were fitted in 2014. A receipt of £1500 to confirm the supply and fitting by Kustom Interiors.
This car appears in showroom condition, we have had access to the underneath of the vehicle which is immaculate, a recently fitted exhaust system has been added as well. The owner has also fitted new chrome and badge additions to the vehicle, receipts are included in the paperwork for these, no expense has been spared to make this car in perfect condition.
Mechanically the owner has done the majority of the work himself, receipts validate this and with his own workshop it has been brought back to superb condition. We believe that the engine is still the original one and again compliments the quality of the vehicle's overall appearance.
There are a number of spare parts that have been with the original owner and kept in its lifetime, these come along with the original tyres as well.
Since June 1995 the car has done less than 300 miles, the current owner though since ownership has had the car MOT’d every year.
This British classic will be sure to catch the eye of any classic enthusiast wanting to get their hands on a beautiful Ford Prefect, this is one stunning example and ready to drive away and enjoy with no work required at all.
