The Background

The lotus 7 is a small and lightweight 2 seater sports car that was produced between 1957 and 1972. The lotus Seven design has inspired a whole range of imitations on the kit car market, Typically referred to as Sevens or Sevenesque roadsters.

The History

Built to replicate the lotus 7 it originated from a donor chassis which was a Lotus Elan. After being dismantled and fitted using a Caterham Chassis the current owner has built out an incredible looking replica using a Mazda 1600 twin cam with 5 speed Mazda gearbox to go along with it and only covering a little over 250 miles this is a great example of a passion project.

The owner loves how this car has been since its completion but is looking to build another one and wants to see this incredible replica go to someone who will enjoy it just as much as get the most out of this unique set up under the bonnet.

The Paperwork

The paperwork that accompanies this car is on the thin side mainly due to its kit car nature but current V5 is present.

The Interior

Interior is very clean and simple with everything individually set out, all clocks and dials are in great clear condition. Steering wheel is removable which may be useful for taller drivers. A unique feature on this car is the indicators, while originally the Lotus seven had indicators on a switch here we have indicators on a timed switch so no need to ever worry about forgetting to turn them off.

The Exterior

The exterior of this car is eye-catching to say the least, the silver and green colour scheme is a true nod to its british heritage and with a good polish you could have the silver gleaming again. The entry points on the doors have caused some light rubbing marks to be present on the arches but these are not deep and are more surface marks. One small dent can be seen on the off side panel near the front as pictures show.

The Mechanics

Mechanically this car is in great condition, it runs and drives great as well as sounding great thanks to the twin weber engine. There are no obvious leaks or drips and everything has been garage stored.

The drive of this car is very responsive and pulls nicely and is a joy to be in passenger or driver and will definitely catch the attention of people on the street.

While everything runs and drives as should a full webber calibration would be recommended to really get the most out of this engine.

The Appeal

There are very few cars that make people want to turn their head a full 360 when something drives past them, and this Lotus 7 replica is one of them. Not only does this car sound incredible it looks incredible even when standing still.

The lotus 7 has become an icon with its road legal ability as well as the ability to pass clubman racing on the weekends the support and community behind the 7 is huge, Plus if its cool enough for Wolverine to drive around in its cool enough to buy.

Making a secure purchase on Car & Classic Auctions

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 5-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000+ £500.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
