The Background

The Range Rover is arguably one of the most iconic sport utility vehicles to ever grace the roads, and has built a truly impressive legacy.

Following Rover’s development with the Land Rover Series 1 and after observing the American automotive market trends in the 1960’s, the company’s focus shifted towards producing a utility vehicle with both off road capabilities, and greater comfort. Skip ahead to 1970, and the world was introduced to the “car for all reasons”, or as we know it…

The Range Rover. Since then, the Range Rover has progressed to much more of a luxury SUV than it’s previous iterations, leaving many of us classic car enthusiasts longing for the glory days, in the form of a true classic Range Rover.

The History

Prior to it’s time here in the UK with its current owner, this classy Range Rover previously belonged to a gentleman in Australia, almost since the day it was new.

Throughout its time in the Brisbane sun, the vehicle received a tremendous amount of care, with examples of dated maintenance being visible under the engine bay and within the car's plentiful paperwork. After many years of care-filled ownership, the previous owner later decided to pass the Range Rover to its next, and current owner, to purchase a Land Rover Defender.
The current owner then purchased the vehicle in Melbourne and had it shipped across to the United Kingdom, where it has since resided and had a peaceful spot of rest, ready for it’s next adventures. Even to this day, the current owner is still in contact with the original owner, and would gladly help connect the vehicle’s new owner to the previous owner, to continue the car’s legacy.

The Paperwork

This Range Rover comes with a plentiful amount of paperwork, which includes receipts for previous repairs, original owner’s handbooks, and various services receipts. In addition to the original handbook and materials, the vehicle also has paperwork for a Ming Rust Proofing service, from it’s time in Australia.

As this Range Rover has spent the majority of its time in the land down under, the new owner will need to register the vehicle for the UK. That being said, the vehicle does come with a brilliant amount of paperwork and information regarding the vehicle.

The Interior

The interior of this Range Rover is exceptional, and is a true testament to its owners’ attention and care. It should be noted that the interior of this vehicle is in fact, fully original and has not been replaced over the years.

The seats are in excellent condition, with only minor marks and signs of wear, which is very rare for a vehicle of this age. The headliner is immaculate, as is the dashboard, which has been protected over the years by covers on various pieces, such as the main cluster.

The front carpet also deserves recognition for being so tidy, and the carpet in the rear appears to have rarely seen use entirely. A glance in the rear will reveal the only item on this vehicle that is aftermarket, which is the rear frame.

This was a modification required by the Queensland government in order to legally use a car seat on the road. This Range Rover has an interior that will put the majority of the cars on the roads to shame, with door cards, seating, dials, dashboard and any accompanying details in great condition.

If you’re looking for a luxury interior in a classic Range Rover, you’d certainly be hard pressed to find one in this condition.

The Exterior

Other than a bit of dust, cobwebs and a couple of speckles of minor surface rust, this vehicle is in great condition for it’s age. All exterior trim pieces and panels are intact and show few signs of age or damage, and all window glass is in great condition. With a good detail, and a few little areas of touchup, this Range Rover could quite easily fool you of it’s actual age.

Rather surprisingly for a vehicle of this age, the arches and underbody also appear to be free of major corrosion, perhaps proof of the car’s dry and sunny past life in the land down under. A common issue with these cars is major rust on the tailgate, but fortunately this vehicle hasn’t succumbed to this notorious problem, proudly boasting a solid rear end.

All four wheels are also in excellent condition having been professionally powder coated, and are wrapped in a matching set of Continental tyres, ready for the next owner’s adventures. Since the vehicle was photographed in the above pictures, the Range Rover has received a full detail and looks truly spectacular!

The Mechanics

The vehicle runs and drives without issue, and starts up first time with a turn of the key. As this Range Rover has been meticulously maintained, you will be pleased to know that there are no known mechanical or electrical faults whatsoever.

With plenty of paperwork and mileage & dates written on replacement parts in the engine bay, the new owner can rest easy knowing this vehicle drives and performs exactly as intended.

The Appeal

There’s just something so pure and wholesome about a classic Range Rover. It’s a very capable 4x4 vehicle, at home on the dirt, grass and wherever you decide to take it, yet still manages to outclass even luxury cars of the era, with its plush interior and build quality.

Now, you don’t need us to remind you just how rarely these vehicles pop for sale, but this is truly an opportunity you can’t afford to pass on. We’re talking about a classic 1975 Range Rover, with a pristine interior, brilliant structural health and a very interesting and love-filled history. If you’re looking for an iconic part of British engineering and automotive history, this is it right here.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
