The E 30 3 series really put BMW firmly on the map, the well-built and stylish car quickly gained favour and sales across the board, offering a variety of engines and being available in many guises…2 or 4 door saloon, estate (or Touring as it was known) and as a convertible.
The jewel of the series was the 325i, using a fabulous straight 6 engine that delivered a very useful 175 BHP. The rear wheel drive, very slick 5 speed gearbox, agile handling and precise steering made the 325i a real driver’s car.
THE HISTORY
The current owner purchased the car in 1992 with 31,000 miles on the clock. It had previously been run as a company car through Lease Contracts PLC who were the registered first owner.
For the first 10 years of his ownership routine servicing was carried out by BMW specialists and thereafter by a friendly, local engineer who has looked after the car ever since.
Always garaged the car has always been well cared for and regularly maintained, the result of which can be seen in the photographs, a very clean and tidy original car in good condition.
In the last few years, the car has been used less and less, as can be seen from the MOT mileage history, and it is for this reason, and helping his daughter out with money for a house deposit, that the car is now being offered for sale.
THE PAPERWORK
The V5 is present showing one previous keeper and the car comes complete with the original E30 book pack with all the booklets and manuals, together with service receipts, MOTs, old tax discs and two sets of keys.
The MOT expires November 2021.
INTERIOR
The beige leather interior overall is in good shape showing signs of its age but only in a good way. The dashboard and door cards are all in fine shape as are the carpets and the hood interior are all good. There is a small rip on the passenger door card but other than that there is little to draw attention to.
The driver’s seat is probably the most worn and has in the past been repaired professionally where the outer bolster had worn through. The seats are still supportive and comfortable though and would doubtless benefit from some light renovation and treatment to rejuvenate them.
The original radio cassette has been updated to a JVC radio/cd player.
THE EXTERIOR
The car has its original paint, Atlantis Blue, and still has a good lustre and shine to it. A few rust spots have been seen over the years and a few stone chips touched up but overall, the paintwork is in good condition.
Chrome fittings, rubbers, badging and rubber seals all look fresh with no signs of any pitting or discolouration, glass all round is good and the headlights are nice and clear.
The blue hood works smoothly and easily but is beginning to show signs of fading in places, though it remains free of any tears or rips and makes a good tight seal with the windscreen and the body.
The 15” BBS wheels are not scuffed or curbed, and the tyres have plenty of life left in them.
THE MECHANICS
Mechanically the car has benefitted from regular servicing and maintenance throughout its life and the owner reports that everything works as it should do and the car drives superbly.
The comprehensive history will assure the next owner that the car has been very well looked after, and the all-important cam belt and tensioner were last replaced 31/7/17 at 114,250 miles.
THE APPEAL
The BMW 325i was, and still is, a great car.
The trick is to find one that has been well cared for, preferably garaged, and regularly serviced. This very nice convertible ticks all those boxes and also has the benefit of only having had two owners from new who have also kept the car nice and original, with no unnecessary modifications.
If you’re looking for a classic convertible that will be a pleasure to own and drive, and never go out of fashion, then your search is over.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Automatically outbid immediately
When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
Pre-authorisation
We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.
What are pre-bids?
A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.
Problem with your bid
Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
