The Background

The Toyota Corolla has been a household name since its production commenced in 1966. Through 12 Generations of evolution the Corolla has become one of the best selling vehicles in Toyotas line ups and has even dipped into the world of motorsport.
As small hatchbacks go it's one of the most popular in the world and has sold in vast numbers in a number of variations.
This model being the fast GTi-16 spec is well equipped and well sought after.

The History

The Corolla you see before you is a clean unmarked example with a rare electric sunroof. It wears an Interesting private plate bearing the initials of the original owner (H15 BFC) a lady owner from Berkshire. She owned the vehicle from March 1991- January 2013.
The car saw very little use between 2005 and 2013 when it was then sold with just over 40300 miles on the clock to the servicing dealer in January 2013.
It was then acquired by the present owner in December 2014 with just 41500 miles on the odometer.

There are 20 service stamps present, complete with receipts for both main dealer and specialist services throughout the car's life.
Since 2014 under present owner, the following work has been carried out by an official Toyota dealer.

2014 - 2015:
Toyota timing belt fitted @41523 miles;
Toyota air filter + fuel filter + spark plugs replaced @ 41730 miles;
L+R front ball joints were replaced @ 41959 miles;
The Front shock absorbers and springs were replaced @ 42080 miles;
With the rear shock absorbers being replaced @ 42110 miles.

2018:
L+R rear anti-roll stabilizers fitted @42845 miles.

2020:
A new front windscreen was sourced from Denmark and fitted by National Windscreens vintage car specialist fitter @ 42938 miles.
A new Toyota battery fitted in October 2020 @ 42930 miles.

In addition;
Oil and (Toyota) filter change carried out annually at the anniversary of MOT by the owner or official Toyota dealer.
The car is reluctantly up for sale to enable the owner to slim down his collection of Toyotas currently owned from 4 to 3, he is somewhat of a collector and knows these cars very well.

The Paperwork

All of the original Toyota documentation is present including the original owner's wallet. The car comes with a file of paperwork and receipts to back up its history, low miles and ownership.

The Interior

The car has spent most of its life with a single occupant owner therefore it's only really the driver’s seat that’s been used. All of the upholstery, carpets and door panels are clean and unmarked. As is the dashboard, boot carpet and parcel shelf. The front has electric windows and the central locking is also fully operational. The spare wheel well remains as new with the full original Toyota tool kit, jack and jacking handle fitted.
The interior plastics are in great condition and suggest minimal use.

The Exterior

Again, consistent with the cars low mileage and good history the paintwork is in fantastic condition with no visible damage to any panels. The fully electric sunroof is operational as are the adjustable electric mirrors. Five as new original Toyota alloy wheels with no damage or scuffs present. Very clean presentable engine bay with no oil or fluid leaks and the underside of the car is also very clean and straight as pictured.
There is one minor scuff to the front bumper corner (pictured) and the odd stone chip on the drivers side inner arch lip but that really is being picky on what is a fantastically clean 30 year old car.

The Mechanics

The car goes as well as it looks, this is tantamount to the regular servicing schedule that has been maintained throughout the car’s life.
It sounds fantastic through the stainless exhaust and feels taught. The engine is revvy where it should be and the steering is responsive. The gearbox changes well and is a joy to drive.

The Appeal

Whilst the Toyota Corolla has been a popular car for generations and as such demand has meant it has been made in pretty vast numbers, they have also been popular with youngsters and in hot hatch mode like this one popular with those that like to throw them around a bit.

This then makes this very clean example the one you would want to own, the clean low mile, low owner collectible hot hatch amongst a sea of bland grocery getters.

The car has very minor blemishes across what is an almost ‘time warp’ collectible. It really is that clean.

Being 30 years old now it's bordering on the cusp of classic/cult status and would be a sensible buy if you're into small hot hatch offerings from the land of the rising sun.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
