THE HISTORY

This 1992 registered 190E was first registered to a elderly lady in Scotland, who used it until she no longer could. It was in storage for some time before making its way to the beautiful county of Dorset where it was owned and cared for by an engineer who carried out numerous areas of work and servicing.

The current owner purchased the vehicle in July 2021 and enjoyed it over the summer months after recently deciding to partake in classic car ownership!

THE PAPERWORK

Substantial paperwork dated from 2018 to present is included, as well as an original service book with stamps up to 2004. Included in the bills are notes of servicing carried out by the engineer owner. There is online documentation of MOT’s from 2005 to present, where you can see the mileage increments, the mileage from 2005 - 2010 was just over 2,000.

Then from 2018 the MOT's restart which line up with the storage history. Also included are original owners manual, two keys, key ring, haynes manual and original model brochure.

THE EXTERIOR

This vehicle is a very tidy example, with only a small area on the rear quarter and rear bumper that would be required to take it to perfection, other than that the paint and trims are all in first rate condition.

There’s no paperwork present to confirm if the car has had a respray or paint work in the past but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn if one had been carried out. The metallic paint looks gorgeous in the sunlight, it's a real beauty and certainly shows its been cared for.

THE INTERIOR

The interior is also in top order, the ‘mushroom’ cloth interior, which is a pleasant mix of beiges, is in fantastic condition. Seats look barely used both front and rear, the dash looks factory fresh with all gauges and buttons present and working.

This car was built in a time when quality and integrity were essential parts of the Mercedes-Benz brand and it shows, everything you touch feels solid and proper.

THE MECHANICS

During our visit the car was started and maneuvered on several occasions, the 1.8L fired up with no hesitation and there were no questionable sounds or issues. We also followed the vehicle for a few miles with various speeds obtained, it cruised comfortably, stopped and took off with no difficulty.

The recent history and stamped service book are testament to the love it has received over the years, this model is proven to go on for hundreds and thousands of miles with the right care.

THE APPEAL

This car is German engineering at its finest. Built to be comfortable and reliable it's a huge hit world wide. Just under two million were sold and with some of those cars clocking galactic mileages it’s safe to say these cars have the longevity most modern cars lack let alone something built when Eric Clapton was still in the charts.

A really fantastic opportunity to own an engineering marvel without breaking the bank.

Making a secure purchase on Car & Classic Auctions

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 5-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000+ £500.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
