• Full Mercedes-Benz dealership history
Introduced in 1982 and continuing production until 1993 the W201 designated Mercedes-Benz saloon were a range of front engine, rear drive, five seated passenger cars that started the companies first “compact” class vehicle.
The entry level 190E wore the three trident star and with its five link rear suspension, front and anti-roll bars gave the car a balance and drivability that was the envy of its competition.
This Signal Red 190E saloon has been meticulously maintained with a comprehensive service history, inside and out the car is in excellent condition and has a subtleness to it that makes these cars now even more desirable, modern classics like these cars aren’t usually in such good condition and with only the supplying dealer and two family members having owned this car it has a history that very few cars at thirty years old can match.
The car has had extensive Mercedes-Benz servicing work done on it since new (dealer and specialist) , all receipts and stamps are present with the paperwork. The car was last serviced in April 2019 at 96,351 miles where the engine oil, filter and spark plugs were changed and a full lubrication of key components.
Alongside the MOTs for each year the owner has also kept the manuals, original brochure and tax discs. All which can be seen in the photo gallery.
The last MOT was recorded at 96,905 miles in March 2021 with no advisories at all.
The charcoal grey chequered seat facings front and rear are in good condition, as are the wood trim facias and all switches are operational as well, along with the steel electric sunroof. Notably the drivers seat bolster shows very little sign of wear, just showcasing the typical build quality that we have come to expect from the German sector.
The cars door cards are in good condition for the year, as are the manual mirror and window handles. The gear gaiter is very worn and would be the only item we can see that needs replacing to keep the car up to the rest of the cabins condition.
A Sony CD head unit is fitted alongside Blaupunkt speakers, the original first aid kit and hazard warning triangle are also present.
The boot area is clean and carpets throughout are in good condition (Mercedes tailored over mats have been fitted from new), again showing the car that this car has been given in its lifetime.
The cars paintwork is in good condition generally, wheel facings are in good order, we have been informed that the drivers side has had a partial respray, this to our knowledge has been done to a high standard.
All four Good Year matching tyres are all in excellent condition, all the corners of the front and rear bumpers are in a good state, as are the black plastic bumpers. There are as to be expected some stone chips around the front end of the car and also on the top of the sunroof, again age related and nothing that would need anything other than a touch up if you wished to tidy these minor blemishes up.
The car has a comprehensive service history and has been maintained on a regular basis throughout its lifetime, MOT until March 2022 and paperwork on every item that has been looked after on the car is present, the photos show the sheer amount of history this car has and is ready to take away-on collection for a refined drive back home.
This 190E is a real gem, not many of these standard models have been kept in such a high standard as “K197AEC” and with a comprehensive service history, excellent condition inside and out this will be a car that already is a modern classic.
