The Background
The SLK roadster was first introduced in 1996 and the cars model stands for sporty, light and compact. Fitted with a range of engines the SLK 230 with its 2995 cc supercharged engine was the sweet spot in the range, producing 190 bhp and a sprint time from 0-60 in 7.4 seconds it had brought the three trident star to a much wider market and was the perfect weekend car.
The History
The seller has owned the vehicle since 2012, with the previous owner having the car since 2005 (2 owners in family) so this has good ownership and has been looked after and maintained to a high standard. The car has very high specification being a rare Designo edition, the car comes with the original Designo floor mats with purple piping, a 10 disc Mercedes CD changer, remotes locking and alarm, AMG 17’ alloys and AMG exhaust.
Heated seats add to the specification alongside the wind deflector, full matching Designo purple leather seating to match with the vibrant paintwork.
The Paperwork
The car has has had four owners, and paperwork is supplied since the current owner purchased the SLK in 2012, some receipts, MOTS and stamps confirm the mileage since 1999.
The cars service booklet shows the first few maintenance records stamped at a Mercedes dealership and the current owner has maintained the car well, if anything has been required they have attended to it as it is used and enjoyed.

Original book racks and manuals are present along with a second key card which has never been used.
The Interior
This car has the full Designo purple leather upholstery, original floormats, and carpet underneath are in very good condition. There is some wear on the drivers bolster, to be expected with the mileage on the vehicle. Door cards are in good condition, as you would expect the high build quality of Mercedes has made sure that the interior has held up despite its age.
The leather steering wheel is in good condition as are the switches with all electrics working, alongside the electrically operated hard top roof. The Brabus chrome roll over bars are in good condition and set off nicely against the individual paintwork.
The Exterior
The car is clean with no visible scuffs, dents or marking on any of the main panels. There is some bubbling on the offside front wing and the nearside rear wing as shown in the photos, both are where the bumper meets the bodywork. All trims around the windows, roof and doors are tidy and clean. The compact body of the SLK has held up well and the Designo purple paintwork looks fresh and vibrant due to the care and attention of the present owners,
The AMG alloys are in good condition for the age, the near side rear alloy has scuff marks, as does the near side front around a third of the rim but the faces of all wheels are clean as are the Mercedes centre caps. The off side alloys have signs of corrosion and the full set would benefit from a refurbishment. Tyres are in good condition with adequate tread, there is a small cut on one tyre which was noted on the recent MOT but was an observation and not of any significance to the wear on the rubber.
The owner has mentioned that stone chips are present on the front bumper and some on the bonnet, to be expected with the age and mileage of the vehicle.
The owner has had the front and rear arches attended to back in July 2017, again a sign of the care that they have had for the vehicle.
The Mechanics
The owner states that the car runs smoothly and has no problems with the electrics or mechanics at all. The car has been used regularly and taken care of if anything needed attention at all. The electric roof operation is smooth and according to the seller is in good condition in terms of electric.
The Appeal
The Mercedes-Benz SLK roadster is a popular model and you’ll see plenty on the road, unlikely you’ll see many of the Designo editions as they are becoming a rare sight. This cars unique colour and high specification make it the perfect addition for a Mercedes collectors garage or someone who wants a bit of individuality in a fun, lightweight roadster.
