Highlights

∙LOW MILEAGE & GREAT CONDITION
∙GOOD SERVICE HISTORY WITH MUCH RECENT WORK
∙LEATHER TWO-TONE INTERIOR

THE BACKGROUND

It has recently had two new catalytic converters, LAMBDA sensors and new alternator (under warranty) fitted (5 Feb 2021), a new water pump in March 2020, new tyres in Feb 2021, and a recent gearbox service including a new selector board with all filters and oils being changed.

This 2004 Crossfire comes with a genuine low mileage of just 69,000 miles and has a good service history with 7 entries in the service book and a host of receipts.

THE HISTORY

First exhibited at the Detroit Motor Show in 2001 they started rolling off the production line in late 2002.

It utilised the capable chassis, suspension and drivetrain from the proven Mercedes SLK 320 and added a radically looking retro styled body which, with its, some might say, unusual proportions with a long bonnet, upright windscreen and a purposeful muscular body, with most certainly a very American styling influence.

The more powerful V6 3.2 litre engine was offered to UK buyers from 2003 onwards and delivered a useful 217 BHP which could propel you to 60 MPH in just over six seconds and on to a top speed of 150 MPH.

THE PAPERWORK

The V5 is present and correct and shows 6 previous owners. The car comes with its original Owners pack of manuals and nearly 12 months of MOT left. It also passed its recent MOT with no advisories.

THE INTERIOR

The striking retro two-tone interior features full leather seats in Terracotta Red with Grey inserts and everything is in very nice clean condition with little or no signs of undue wear and tear in any area and has a light aged patina about them.

The dashboard, door cards, headlining, and aluminium centre console are all in excellent condition and the driver’s side footwell carpet has a small threadbare area but nothing to get too concerned about.

THE EXTERIOR

The Metallic Pearl Grey paintwork is in very good condition and still has a lovely high gloss shine to it and, with its recently refurbished alloy wheels, really does look very striking and appealing from all angles.

THE MECHANICS

The car has had a recent service and has no mechanical faults to report with everything working correctly and as it should do.

A look under the bonnet shows an incredibly clean and nicely detailed engine bay with no signs of any fluid or oil leaks.

THE APPEAL

This Crossfire really is in exceptionally nice condition with a good service history and low mileage. It also has the more powerful V6 engine and a nicely balanced chassis blessed with fat anti-roll bars, torsional rigidity and rear multi-link suspension making it a car that corners flat and true, especially with those large wheels and wide tyres.

The Crossfire, being a fusion of Mercedes engineering prowess and American ‘Retro’ design flair really does make for an interesting and different type of modern classic car, and this one in particular would seem to be a very good example of the model.

It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but the Crossfire is a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
