・Well looked after with full-service history ・Harman-Kardon Sound System ・Great interior ・Very usable and stylish grand tourer
The Jaguar XK was originally launched in 1996 and would run until 2014 and during this time the car become a recognisable feature on the UK roads. 2006 saw the release of Jaguar's second generation of XK, the 'X150'. This new version featured a newly shaped aluminium body and more sporty features which would allow it to compete with the other sports tourers on the market at the time. Although featuring styling cues nodding to Jaguar's past, the XK marked the beginning of a new, more modern design language for Jaguar, followed by such models as the XF.
The current owner purchased this early X150 back in 2015 to run as a daily driver alongside his other classic cars. Since the purchase it has received the exactly the sort of love you would expect. When you look at the paperwork that comes with the car and the way it has been presented, you can tell that although it's 15 years old this car has led a sedate life, with all of its owners lavishing it with the same care and attention a Jaguar deserves.
There is a folders worth of paperwork for this car, which include MOT print outs, Insurance documents and receipts for all kinds of work done to the car by the current owner. They are all in date order, so you are able to take a look through at your leisure to the amount of work done and how much love has been put into this car.
The 'Warm Charcoal' interior of the Jag is in great condition. The leather fitted to all of the seats have no cracks or major marks and the chairs themselves are a lovely place to sit. The sporty looks of the car may give the illusion of a hard riding, B-road blaster, but fear not, it's Jaguar business as usual inside. Comfort and refinement are always present.
The early infotainment system fitted to this car works as well as you could expect, this means that you are able to enjoy your music through the factory fitted Harman-Kardon sound system. No warning lights are present on the dashboard and the fascia materials are all in good order.
Unsurprisingly, exterior of this car is in an equal condition to the interior. For the age and milage of this car it is remarkable to see it in such good condition which just goes to show how well it has been looked after by the current owner and previous owners before. As you can imagine, some age-related marks and stone chips are present if you want to be critical, but we think it's done rather well in its 15 years of prowling the UK.
The current owner replaced the factory rims for the current ones it runs on, which makes the exterior of the car pop. Sadly, these wheels have seen the wrong side of a curb a few times, but they can be restored to their former glory. The other noticeable issue on the exterior is the fact that the aerial is stuck in the upright position.
The mechanics of the big cat are in rather good order, with Jaguar's tough and reliable 4.2 V8 performing as it should.
The current owner did mention that during his ownership they have replaced a faulty sensor that would regularly trigger after going over a pothole. But since this sensor has been replaced this issue has gone away.
Any of the big V8's 300 horses can be called upon at a moments notice, should the call of an inviting set of back road twisties beckon, which it will chew up in typical Jaguar comfort and performance. However, if you want to kick back and let this car do what it was designed to do, it will happily sit at 70 mph all day and the smooth and bulletproof 6 speed ZF box will return you 30 mpg for the pleasure. The mantra of 'Grace, space and pace' is as relevant today as it was back then.
This Jaguar provides the perfect excuse for a big cross-country adventure. With this example being so well looked after, with all of the meticulous time spent on the paperwork of this car and the pure comfort it provides. You will be able to motor with your mind at ease that this is the right one for the job. The massive V8 under the bonnet is raucous enough when you want to be but if you need to do a run to the airport at 3am in the morning it will not disturb the neighbours too much. This is a truly excellent car that deserves to be driven.
