2008 Land Rover Discovery 3 G4 Challenge

Highlights

• Limited edition 1 of 68 produced
• Comprehensive service history
• Very high specification with 7 seats

The Background

The Land Rover Discovery 3 was introduce in 2004, it features full independent
suspension based on an air suspension system, enabling ride-height adjustment. The 2.7 litre diesel engine is linked to a six speed automatic and with 195 hp and 440 nm from the V6 engine it was perfectly matched for any occasion.
The vehicle was fitted with hill descent control, 4 wheel electronic traction control, dynamic stability control and a mix of settings for off road use, including gravel & snow, mud & ruts plus rock crawl!

The History

The G4 challenge was an off road event that Land Rover were heavily involved in producing vehicles for, a small amount were not used and this makes them a very desirable off road vehicle. Fitted with a  vast array of specification for comfort and any off road eventuality, in Tangier Orange paintwork they also stand out from the crowd.
Although not used for the G4 challenge this particular vehicle with the previous owner did embark on a charity event to India in 2016 (you can find more about this by researching #gravesendtoamritsar). The car has been used for all purposes but its condition belies the 137000 miles on it.
The car is fully loaded, full black leather upholstery, navigation, cruise control, sunroof (fully operational), winch, snorkel, roof rack, ladder, console chiller box and full electrics throughout.

The Paperwork

This vehicle has extensive service history, with a mix of main dealer and specialists looking after it since 2008 when it was registered. A stamped service book and original manuals are provided along with receipts for past and recent work.

The car was serviced earlier this year and has a valid MOT until February 2022. The car comes with two key sets.

The Interior

The typical Land Rover solid interior has held up well and shows the solid materials used for a vehicle like this to weather many years of use. The leather upholstery is in good condition throughout, some wear is evident on the drivers bolster as to be expected and a very small number of marks are evident on the rear seat. Rubber floor mats are fitted throughout with a sturdy boot liner intact and preserving the load space.
Some minor marks are present on the drivers door cars around the wing mirror switch. A new head unit has been fitted which has navigation and is linked to the excellent Harmon Kardon speaker system, the previous one is shown in the photos. A set of snow chains are also included with the sale.
This car does have seven seat capability as well.

The Exterior

The cars paintwork and livery is in good order throughout, the bold Tangier Orange paintwork is fresh and only marks evident are to the near side rear bumper which has a slight scraze.

Wheels are in good order for its age and the General Grabber tyres fitted on the standard alloy wheels, there is some light marks on three of the wheels, this is on the very outer rims.
The roof and ladder are sturdy with the only damage on the rear beam, photographs show this.

The Mechanics

The car comes with a comprehensive record of its service history in the form of a stamped book and receipts.

Most of the electrics are working including the sunroof (which on the original version did not operate as standard from the factory). The only things that are not working are the front parking sensors as they were disconnected at the factory for the winch, and the electric steering wheel adjuster.

The Appeal

A unique opportunity to own a limited edition expedition vehicle with comprehensive service history, fitted with everything you require for your own off road adventure anywhere in the world.

These non campaign G4 models are very sought after and do not often become available that often.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
