The Background

DJ Sports Cars International Ltd built the first DAX Rush in 1991 in cooperation with the German company Mohr, who produced replicas of the classic Lotus Seven two seater sports car.

Designed utilising a space frame steel chassis & fibreglass body with various powerplant configurations possible including V8s, turbos & motorcycle engines from a number of manufacturers.

Initially offered in kit form using mostly Ford running gear, they went on to list a factory built option.

The History

Assembled in 2013 by a previous owner with fast road & track days in mind. Lack of time to use led to it being sold to a Scottish enthusiast, and subsequently a deal was done by the current vendor to part exchange for a classic car.

Up for sale as it’s not to the sellers usual taste in cars , preferring more modest transport means.
Paperwork consists of a current V5c and the Daxs’ Single Vehicle Approval ( SVA ) document , which is an enhanced Mot type test required when cars are built up from kit form.

There is also a current Mot which expires in March 2022.

The Interior

Lightweight & purposeful describes the interior. A gloss black dash supports warning lights for battery charge, oil pressure, lighting etc complemented by a Koso digital tachometer and speedo.

Fibreglass racing seats with Sabelt 4 point harnesses provide safety & support when testing the Rush's’ superb road holding.

The Exterior

Clothed in bright red lightweight fibreglass with black wings & wind deflector, this Rush certainly looks the part. The paint work is said to be excellent with minimal stone chips.

16” gloss black, Team Dynamic wheels shod with Nankang Ultra Sport tyres finish off this eye-catching package nicely.

The Mechanics

Power is supplied by the ever popular and highly tunable Ford Pinto engine. This one has been bored out to 2.1 litres, has a fast road high lift camshaft, 4 carbs of performance motorcycle origin, a Pipercross filter to help it breath better, electronic ignition, stainless tubular exhaust manifold and finished off with a stainless exterior silencer.

A 5 speed Ford mk9 gearbox transfers power to the drum braked Atlas rear axle. Adjustable platform shocks provide damping, with Wilwood racing brakes up front providing excellent stopping power and are also adjustable via a bias peddle box.

The Appeal

What we have here is a great example of these fun to drive, two seater sports cars.
Based on the age-old philosophy for driving fun, plenty of power, front engine and manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, this Dax Rush is bound to impress both driver and passenger.

It has all the essential elements for fast road driving and track day thrills if you wish, with potential for upgrading into a very serious track day weapon should the already ample power and handling become the norm.

Colin Chapman, designer of the original Lotus Seven, got the concept of a light weight sports car correct back in the early sixties, sufficient power and light weight. He was once quoted as saying “ Adding power makes you faster on the straights, subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere “ such is the appeal of the Dax Rush !

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
