The Background

The Morgan V6 Roadster was the most powerful and exhilarating model to be based upon its legendary steel chassis.
Offering a radically different experience to other Morgan models thanks to its significant increase in performance, the Roadster was the Morgan of choice for owners who desired a true British muscle car.
Introduced as the replacement for the original Plus 8, the V6 Roadster’s raw power not only made it faster than the original, but the final evolution of the rear leaf spring cars. The overall weight of only 950kg for this aluminium car gives it a power to weight ratio of around 300bhp per tonne. Power delivery is transmitted to the road through a limited slip differential and the six-cylinder engine, and six speed manual transmission provide an engaging driving experience while still retaining that old world charm that Morgan is famous for.

The History

First registered in April 2016 it came with a very impressive specification from the factory. The specification includes 7” x 16” stainless steel wire wheels including spare, full width bumpers, tread rubbers, silver mesh grille, radio/cd player, Aero Racing chrome interior and round exterior mirrors, a Mota-Lita 14” wooden steering wheel, wing mounted side lights and a stainless-steel sports exhaust.  This car has a vast number of expensive extras totalling nearly £13,000, which would have made the Roadster cost nearly £68,000 when new. A full list of the extras can be seen on the photo showing the specifications.
The interior and performance heated seats are trimmed in Yarwood Biscuit leather upholstery with the Morgan logo embroidered on headrests, leather sun visors, elasticated door pockets and a walnut dashboard complete the period look perfectly.
The current owner bought the car damaged after the first owner somehow managed to reverse into a tree causing rear end damage. He likes a project to keep himself occupied in retirement and, working closely with a local Classic Restoration Specialist, the Morgan has been completely and professionally repaired and returned to its former glory using all genuine parts.

The Paperwork

The V5 is present, as are the receipts for all the restoration works done to repair the damage. The many genuine parts purchased required to return the car to its proper state are all detailed. The list of works is considerable, but the result has certainly been worth the effort.
The current MOT expires on 11/04/22.

The Interior

The luxurious time-warp interior is clean and in great condition throughout with the owner reporting that all switches and electrics work perfectly and as they should do.
The blue carpets with blue piping are similarly in near-perfect condition and the wooden steering wheel and dashboard really finish off the whole interior nicely.
Behind the seats you’ll find the jack and soft hammer to remove the spinners when changing a wheel.

The Exterior

Finished in Ferrari Le Mans Blue the paintwork and bodywork is all in lovely condition and is a great contrast to the light interior. As illustrated from the photos, there is a small scratch to the rear and the driver’s side extended sill. These would be easily removed by a good detailing company.
All wheels and chrome on the car are good as are the removable side windows, tonneau cover and black mohair hood.
All the lights are clear and work correctly.

The Mechanics

With only 8,000 odd miles on the clock, you would expect the car to be mechanically sound, and it is.
The engine bay is always a good indicator of how a car has been looked after and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint being clean and free from any signs of oil leaks.
The current owner will also have the oil changed before the next owner takes possession, but beyond that there is nothing more necessary to be done.

The Appeal

There aren’t many cars that deliver modern day high-performance and reliability with that ‘old world charm’ of classic British roadsters from our motoring past. The Morgan Roadster 3.7 however is one of the very few cars that do, and this is a rare opportunity to get one with an incredible specification and will no doubt provide many a happy motoring adventure, that’s why you’d choose to have one.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
