The Background

The original Singer Vogue was a badge engineered (rebadged) version of the Hillman Super Minx. Introduced in July 1961, it was positioned above the Super Minx and Singer Gazelle in the Rootes Group range and had quadruple headlights as well as a more powerful 66 bhp version of the 1,592 cc Minx engine.
For the Series II version, which came out in 1963, front disc brakes were added as standard, there were also changes to the interior; removal of the chrome bonnet strip and a change to amber front indicator lenses. The Series III built upon these features and gained an increase in power to 84 bhp.

The History

It's always nice to see a car that has been cherished by its previous owners and that has the documentation to back it up. This car really has been loved by all 5 of its previous owners and no expense has been spared in caring for it, servicing it and restoring it when required. All of which has been meticulously documented, please see the paperwork section for more details.
Most notably the car had a full engine and body restoration in 2010. A bare metal respray and engine out rebuild saw the car shave off years by being restored to better than new, a condition that it still wears very well today as you will see from the pictures.

The Paperwork

The history presented with this car is quite frankly, staggering. There is far too much to list. Every single nut, bolt, seal, wiper blade, oil change in its 55 years has been documented by all 5 of its previous owners. It’s meticulous. Present in the folder of paperwork are handwritten lists for all items changed, added or restored for every year of its life and then all of the necessary receipts to back this up. There are also lots of photos from over the years of the work carried out, sometimes even photos of step by step progress of particular work like the full restoration the car received in 2010. You could spend hours upon hours reading through the vast history file but one thing that is clear about this vehicle from this paperwork, is that it has been very well looked after its entire existence.
A small selection of the paperwork has been pictured here just to give you an idea, there is far too much to feature.

The Interior

The interior of this vehicle is stunning, having been restored in 2010, when the car had its full restoration. Red leather seats, wooden dash inserts and that big thin steering wheel scream 60s style in the best way possible and it sure is a lovely place to be. Everything works as it should and the only real points to note are the slight discolouration on the drivers seat (no rips or tears) and a few chips missing from the wooden dash veneer but I am being very picky.

The Exterior

The exterior has been restored to a better than original standard and is still wearing it’s respray of 2010 very well. Garaged when not in use and taken out on special occasions only this car has been pampered and the quality of the restoration shines through. You will see from the images just how stunning this vehicle is and will continue to be for some time if looked after. Looking through its history, It has even won awards at several motor shows which is not a surprise given its condition. There were no blemishes I could find on the outside, the paint is great and the chrome and brightwork is also in a fantastic condition.

The Mechanics

Like the rest of the car, the mechanicals on this vehicle have been meticulously restored and maintained. It still sports its original 1600cc engine, fully rebuilt of course and with the addition of stainless exhaust it sounds a little more throaty and has a great engine note. The car starts/stops and handles as expected, it's almost as if it’s just driven off the assembly line in 1965. The history file contains all receipts for all work carried out over the years and even though its tax and MOT exempt the current owner has had it MOT’d for peace of mind, this runs out in July 21.

The Appeal

The roaring 60s, a time when cars were stylish, in fact everything was more stylish. This Singer Vogue estate is offered in stunning condition due to its restoration and the love and care lavished upon it by each of its owners over the years. This car would not be out of place in a car collection or museum, it's that stunning. If you're after a usable classic that you can cherish, enjoy and even take to shows and events and put on display then this is a worthy contender, and you would be doing so in the knowledge that every owner before you has looked after it and loved it as much as you do. It turns heads everywhere it goes and just taking the photos of it for this article we were constantly interrupted by passers by wanting to take a closer look and ask the owner about it. There are reportedly only 9 examples of the 1965 Singer Vogue estate left in the UK which means that it's very rare and if you were to be the next owner, you can be sure that your vehicle is certainly at the top of that list.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
