NO RESERVE! - 1990 Porsche 944 S2 3.0

***NO RESERVE***

Highlights

・Clean tidy paint,
・Recently had service and cambelt done,
・Lovely cream leather interior

The Background

The 944 S2 was introduced as a successor to the 944 S in 1989 and was powered by a naturally aspirated Dual overhead cam 16v 3.0.
The toys were also upgraded from the previous model, with the addition of a revised transmission which saw the car score a healthy 6 seconds on the 0-60 times.
The wide boy bodykit and stance made it very popular and it was seen as the car to have in that late 80s early 90s period by those that could afford to own one.
Today they represent a very affordable classic Porsche ownership that’s still modern and reliable to be used daily if required.

The History

The owner purchased this car some 18 months ago with view to keeping it long term. It has spent its life well looked after from what can be seen of the paperwork and it has certainly been dry stored under cover for the entirety of its current ownership.
The owner spends his time between London and the family home in Barnstaple and now that London is introducing the ULEZ scheme it doesn’t make sense to keep it in London and so he has decided to let someone else enjoy it.
He has however, made sure that it has had a recent Service and cambelt for the new owners peace of mind.

The Paperwork

There are a number of receipts present for previous works large and small including recent tyres and also the major service and cambelt/waterpump the cars recently had.
There is also a service schedule with a lot of Porsche Dealer or specialist services stamps in it to back up the cars maintenance record. Present also is the V5 and a number of previous MOTs.

The Interior

The cars interior is in cracking condition with the cream leather being very nice. The drivers side bolster has some minor wear and there is a small amount of discolouration to the leather. The only downfall is a crack in the centre of the dashboard, as can be seen in the photos.
The car is fitted with an aftermarket Momo steering wheel which is easily removable and replaced with an original if a new owner is preferred.
The rear seats look to have hardly been sat in. Everything works inside as it should and it is classically Porsche in that the focus is on the driver. In summary then, not quite concourse but very tidy and with a few small tweaks could be very clean.

The Exterior

Similarly the exterior is much like the interior, very very tidy. Finished in the lovely Baltic Blue , on the whole the paintwork is great with a deep shine to it, it is believed to be the original paint.
There is however a small amount of laquer peel on the passenger side rear quarter (pictured) the wheels have the odd curb rash here and there, there's a scuff on the passenger wing mirror and a small amount of corrosion starting on the passenger side skirt but as you can see overall it’s a very good looking vehicle.
The owner has also stated that the car will come with the expensive cover that he purchased for it.

The Mechanics

Mechanically the car drives very well with no weird noises, knocks or bangs. The exhaust note is particularly nice and it’s a joy to drive.
Clearly mechanically it has been regularly looked after and the recent servicing, belts and water pump should give new owners a certain amount of peace of mind.

**Had new timing belt, alternator belt and balancer shaft belt plus all new rollers fitted last year**

The Appeal

If the killer “80s wide boy” looks of this classic 944 S2 don’t get you excited, maybe the lovely note coming out of the rear end produced by that lovely 3.0 4-cylinder will… Or maybe the sumptuous figure hugging cream leather sports seats are grabbing your attention?

This car has a lot to offer and whilst it has a few minor blemishes it is very clean for a 32 year old car and will not disappoint, i'm sure once you get behind the wheel and show it some bends on a Broad blast you won't even remember the odd stone chip.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
