A fabulous little Ford Fiesta Mk2 1.1 Ghia, mostly family owned from new, lady owner for the last 2 1/2 years.
Integral front bumper overriders, wide grey bodyside mouldings with bright insert, locking petrol cap, remote control driver’s door mirror, halogen headlamps, tinted glass, tilt-or-remove screened glass sunroof, digital header mounted clock, anti-burst door locks, storage compartment under rear-floor, two speed plus intermittent wipe, tailgate wash/wipe, electric tailgate release, heated rear window, stereo joystick balance control, tachometer, trip recorder, cigar lighter, illuminated interior controls. Factory options; metallic paint. Dealer accessories; Mud flaps.
This fantastic little Ford Fiesta Ghia has been beautifully preserved and cherished mostly within the same family from brand new! The paintwork finished in Ford Glacier Blue (code 53) has a fantastic bright shine and polished uniform finish. The chrome insert around the windscreen is slightly tarnished. All original panels are straight, free from corrosion and display linear gaps including the original factory date stamp front wings. Original doors with no sign of corrosion anywhere around the factory seals. Superb tailgate with no corrosion at all along lower edge. The unmolested appeal of this special vehicle is accentuated by standard trim sections, bumpers and wide body-side mouldings, correct and in immaculate order. All glass is number plate etched and the original Kidney headlamps remain fitted. A truly impeccable example of Ford’s luxury supermini.
The interior of this remarkable example is in exceptional original condition and exactly as Ford intended. The Savoy fabric trim in Blue colour scheme (code DR) is spotlessly clean and the common vulnerable areas for wear such as the seat bases and bolsters are undamaged. The colour-keyed velour carpet is clean and the perforated neutral tone headlining is flawless. Some of the factory protective plastic wrapping is still attached underneath the seats and even the date tags on the seatbelts remain attached! All switchgear is functional and intact, and the soft finish dashboard is perfect. The header mounted digital clock retains the correct green LCD display. An upgraded Pioneer stereo is fitted, the original Ford stereo radio/cassette is with the car and is functional so could be refitted should the new owner choose to do so for originality. The hugely difficult to source trimmed parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct rubber hangers. This well-appointed Fiesta is the embodiment of a prized modern classic Ford.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1117cc OHV engine with Weber carburettor develops a spirited 50bhp. In such a lightweight and nimble car, performance while perhaps not adrenaline-charged is certainly fun, and the unmistakable exhaust note is delightful! A clean engine bay displays factory stickers, plates and panel stampings to gratify the avid enthusiast. The four speed synchromesh gearbox is light and exact. A nostalgic drive guaranteed!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 13” X 5” steel wheels and special Ghia full wheel covers are in good order and the 165/70 R13 tyres have masses of tread remaining. Spare wheel never used. Dual line servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.
Supplied new on 28th June 1984 by Ford Direct to employee Mrs Joyce Johnson, a retail order form confirms a purchase price of £4,483 including £62.95 for metallic paint, a heavily discounted figure from the usual retail price of £5,758! This truly cherished example remained within the same family with just three traceable former keepers listed on the log book, up until January 2016 when it was purchased by its current lady owner as her first car, bringing the number of previous owners to four. Having covered just 65,397 miles from new this rare survivor has remained in the hands of truly devoted and enthusiastic keepers, and this is clear to see in the cars exceptional condition. Previous MOT history and documented recent service work confirm that this car has remained in regular use and benefitted from careful upkeep.
Guaranteed to draw much admiration at any classic car show and ready for fun and enjoyment, this example is ready for its next appreciating owner to appreciate and preserve.
