1934 Peugeot - P515 GS For Sale
Very rare sport bike, with hairpin springs. In 1933 Peugeot launched a new series of motorcycles from their top models . They were also presented under the title "Le motos de grande puissance". The bikes with high performance. The models had the new unit engine and were P115 (350cc OHV) and P117 (350cc side valve) and 515 (500cc OHV) and 517 (500cc side valve). These were in very many designs available . Because it is their top models were you could choose from 4 different fenders and four different exhaust types and painted or with additional chrome. The customer could make there own motorcycle from the large range of different designs. Because of this complicated build after customer the bikes where very expensive and of all of these models only 3150 bikes where sold. Very few where the very expensive 500cc OHV versions. This 500cc OHV model had won manny races by the factory riders of Peugeot. With the 500cc there include nine world records broken in 1934, 3 different records in 3 different classes: 500 -750 and 1000cc. The average speed in the 24 hour record hold stand until 1974 until it was broken by a 1000cc Kawasaki! The offered P515 GS (Grand Sport) is a 500cc OHV 1934. In 1934 (made only 1 year) there is a special GS version made with a domed piston for higher compression this to drive Benzol during races. This version also does not have the normal valve springs, but the hairpin springs that were used in competition. Furthermore, this version was equipped with the larger racing brakes with cooling fins and special valves . Here you now have a unique opportunity to purchase a very rare French sports motorcycle that can be used on the road or on the race tracks.
