A very early, much sought after Triumph TR2 sports (chassis TS349-Jan '54). Finished in rare geranium colour with blackberry interior and weather equipment. Subject to full body and mechanical nut and bolt restoration, with photo record, by renowned Triumph specialists Northern TR Centre in 1994.
A matching numbers car. Rare features including aluminium bonnet, cranked gear lever, ultra rare metric trim on dash and door cards, early design rear light assemblies and original tools with early jack and starting handle. Original buff log book and drivers handbook also present.
The car has a recorded history with mileage of under 53000, and less than 500 miles since its restoration.
In it's early life the car was entered into a number of highland rallies with recorded highlights from Autosport 1954. First raced by Ross Leigh and later by Major Hartley Whyte (of Whyte & Mackay whiskey). The car is eligible for the Mille Miglia event and featured in two books, Original TR2/3/3a by Bill Piggot and Essential Triumph TR by D Hodges.
In a recent comparison against the concourse judging standards of Triumph Register of America, the car met almost all criteria for every section and against that standard would probably be rates as a minimum 95 point car.
This is a car of the highest standard with well authenticated provenance.
