A DRIVING restoration project for someone who wants something ultra rare. Imported last year, all paperwork fully completed. Only just got round to applying for the V5C which is due back to me any day after which it can be insured and driven in the UK as both Tax and MOT exempt.note log book V55 HAS TURNED UP TODAY and UK plates are now on the car
•It had a full service done on it last year. OIL IS LIKE HONEY Once we had taken the tank off, cleaned it out and cleaned the fuel lines through, it started and runs sweetly on the button. Since then it has stood over the winter and the fuel lines are a bit mucky again so needs clearing through. Not a big job. WE ARE SORTING THE FUEL PROBLEM TUESDAY AND FITTING AMERICAN SIZE NUMBER PLATES WITH NEW UK DETAILS ALL NOW DONE
it is running, it drives well. Auto box changing up and down smoothly and the engine sounds awesome. Suspension and steering all good, brakes were passable (drums of course).
•The engine is a big bore Mopar 5.9 361 B-Series. Bullet proof, sounds Sweet easy to work on and parts readily available and cheap.
•Gearbox is the legendary Torqueflite - details above
•It's 56 years old; the spray can finish has great patina. (surface rust) only to most parts hood boot lid doors very rust free, lower parts of all wings have some rot on lower parts glass is all nice drivers window a bit slow lifting. fantastic duke box style dash and instraments . pre select electric gear change . one of the chrome wheels the chrome is starting to lift. very nice under the hood. new dissy cap leads plugs points etc etc purrs sweat as a nut. One school of thought is to laquer it as it is and keep the character. There is of course rust, mostly in the boot, back bumper and where you can see the repairs in the pictures (front wing). The chassis is solid. Most of the chrome is in excellent condition. rear seat is original and good. head lining the same. all carpets missing surface rust to inside floors boot floor has about 6/8 small holes that need welding could do with undersealing to preserve her . very small rust spots on rear arches. remote wing mirror works from dash, chrome smoothy wheel with new tyres
•The interior is tatty but not the worst. Ugliest part is the carpets which are rotten because the car was stored for a couple of years with water getting in to it and sitting in the foot well. Front seat has got rips but is useable. Weather seals all need replacing. Dashboard is pretty good, head liner is fine, doors are all there and working but some of the trim is tired. Window winders all work. Radio even works.
•I've tried to give a fair description but there's no substitute for coming and have a good look yourself. We can work out a deal with your items haggle smoke the pipe of peace have deals up down
•A car like this is not something you should bid on unseen unless you are 100% certain you know what you want. Bid once you've seen it and done your homework. DON'T bid in a daydream and then tell me you didn't know it needed work, was 56 years old and had some rust! but I will swap it for car/boat/bike/gold/diamonds/camper/caravan/ what have you ???????????????
