1966 Humber Hawk ... Reduced to clear
Due to business expansion and reduction in personal time, I’m now offering my 66 Hawk, which I had previously dressed as a period police vehicle. My intention was to hire this out for TV and film use, however due to increased business and lack of personal storage space, I’m sadly letting the car go.
So onto the description.
The Humber like very many of these 60’s cars has had various bits of bodywork and paint throughout its life time. She is very shiny and certainly gets attention, however she is not showroom. The arches had been repaired at some point and do now have some minor bits of corrosion starting to develop. There is also some area’s requiring work in the future at the base of the rear wings. The inner wings are superb and the doors are also very solid. The underside has had welding and although typical standard of repairs done in the 70’s and 80’s, it is still very strong and just requires a bit of a tidy up and re-under-sealing. Maybe I’m sounding harsh but it’s important to describe this car properly. I’m being critical but to be fair, the Hawk does look lovely and a majority of buyers will be content to run, use and cherish as she is. Maybe just making improvements along the way.
Overall, the Hawk is smart, shiny, straight and honest but not a show car. If it were, the price would be double.
In my view the interior is fabulous for a 52-year-old car. Its all original, the wood is good and there is nothing really to do, unless you want it to look brand new. The cabin is watertight, all controls work as they should and she is very comfortable. The headliner is also in good condition with no damage, just some minor discolouration at the edges around the door apertures.
The mileage of 61571 is supposed to be genuine and I have no reason to doubt this, however like a lot of these cars, unless you know the full 52 year history. It can’t be warranted. The engine starts on the button and runs lovely. She has had a new water pump, battery, brake cylinders and we will fully service as part of the reserve. Finally the Hawk has a fully working overdrive unit which will allow this old girl to cruise at 70.
I can honestly say the car is a joy to drive and the suspension and ride is wonderful.
I will be sorry to see it go but I don’t want it left outside and I just don’t have the time to enjoy it.
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or to arrange to view. Transport can be arranged if needed and I will require a deposit at end of auction with the balance due on or before day of collection.
