- The DBS was the introduction car for Aston Martin to a new era!
In 1967 at Blenheim Palace the complete new designed DBS was unveiled. A complete different car as the predecessor, the DB6 with brand new design inside and outside or actually inside it still had a DB6 specification as the engine which was intended to be installed, a V8 engine was not ready when the car was introduced.
Therefore the DB6 retained the 3,995 cc engine in standard from and Vantage form as used in the DB6.
The clean, modern lines of the new DBS found favor with many owners who required more interior space as the car was a full four seater.
Although the design was completely new, the car was immediately recognizable as an Aston Martin.
The DBS was even as former Aston’s a star in the James Bond film series.
After an announcement on 27 September, 1969, the DBS was made available with the long awaited V8 engine, with the car being known as the DBSV8.
The V8 engine is a 5.340 cc liter engine with a Bosch mechanical fuel injection.
Apart from the change of engine, notable visual differences were the specially designed 15’’ GKN light alloy wheels (as opposed to the distinctive wire wheels employed on the DBS), with ventilated brake discs for the first time on an Aston Martin production car.
A Chrysler Toqueflite auto transmission was offered as an alternative to the ZF manual 5 speed unit.
ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE
This Aston Martin DBS V8 is newly delivered to J. Coryton Limited in London at the 28th. of August 1970.
When new the car was Aegean Blue with a Fawn Connolly leather interior.
Non-standard equipment was the automatic gearbox, a steering lock and a fog lamp.
The Aston Martin has been for a longer period in Australia where it was bought by a friend of us in 2015. He brought the car to Holland.
A variety of invoices from Australian specialists as well as Dutch specialists are coming with the car.
This is a car in a condition which personally like very much. Not over the top restored but just beautiful as it is. A bit of patina but not too much.
In other words, not too shiny as it never has been even when it was new but also not tired from too much use.
The car is exterior wise very beautiful. The paint is very nice and shiny. The aluminium as well as the chrome is in a wonderful original condition.
No pitting or damages, just excellent and nicely thin.
The window rubbers are all in a nice condition while these are many times completely dry and broken.
The windows are all nice without scratches and big damages.
The wheels are in a superb condition. Original specification but we have the feeling that they have been restored as they are in such a nice condition.
The interior of the Aston is very beautiful as well. As described at the exterior condition, the car is not brand new restored but shows a bit of patina.
The interior can be best described the same. Very very nice but not too new with incorrect materials.
The leather on the seats is very nice and seems to be completely original although it looks condition wise almost too nice to be completely original. The dashboard and steering are very nice and all meters and gauges are properly working.
Carpets have certainly been renewed over the years but are all in a very nice condition as well.
The car runs and drives very well. It starts immediately and is well tuned. It runs smoothly thru the gears.
The handling is very well of the car and one can feel that the Aston is well maintained during the last years.
