1961 Ferrari 250 SWB GT #14 LeMans Homage (2002) For Sale
1961 Ferrari 250 SWB GT #14 LeMans Homage (2002) Completed April 2017 this is a modern take and homage to the #14 LeMans class winning Ferrari 250 SWB GT from 1961. For those of you who know Ferrari history you may know the original car is in the hands of Mr Bruce Meyer based in California, and is worth $$ millions. This has a straight six 3.0i (231bhp) rear wheel drive with a manual gearbox and has been built around a modern chassis and running gear, with all of the modern features such as electric seats, power steering, heated seats, power hood, ABS, traction control, cruise control, airbag, bluetooth MP3/CD radio, USB charging ports, Electric windows, alarm, central locking, etc. but with the classic looks of the period early sixties Ferrari 250 SWB. This means the servicing and parts are easily available and straight forward to maintain. As a starting point, a great deal of time was spent sourcing the base car for the build, which was in excellent condition. The car’s body work and paint was professionally finished. During the build process there was significant attention to detail on the car’s overall styling resulting in winning top honour at a classic car show. The car was also selected for the prestigious concours d'elegance at last year’s Laon Historic Rallye in France. The car has also featured on the starting grid at Goodwood. We recently undertook the famous London to Brighton run and the hill climb at Brooklands. The car has performed faultlessly throughout (as a modern car would). The #14 styling is true to the original even with the correct font used for the rally numbers, 3 spoke spinners on each wheel, Chrome hood catches and the small bugdirt deflector screen on the bonnet. A visit to the Ferrari museum in Maranello enabled detailed measurements to be taken of an original car, so the washer jets are correctly located; the side air cooling slots are the correct shape and size, etc. The prancing horse badge mounted on the grill is an original Ferrari 'flat' badge as it would have been in the 60's as is the rear original Ferrari badge on the boot. It has a full service history along with a huge amount of receipts and full build history with over 1000+ build and event photos. The car is garaged and covered every day. If you are looking for something different that has had 1,000's of hours put into it, something easy to drive, has reliability, is water tight, starts first time, doesn't leak, with period looks and an exhaust note to match then this is for you! Very recent service, heaps of receipts and history.
