1991 E30 M3 Convertible Only 56,093 Miles For Sale
NOW SOLD After 19 years in my ownership I have decided to part with my 1991 LHD E30 M3 convertible. From a production run of 786, this is 1 of 476 BB05 series cars produced with the S14 215-hp engine. Designed and built by BMW Motorsport GmbH and assembled by hand at their Motorsport factory in Garching, Munich, Germany. This car was produced on the 27th April 1991. Originally supplied by BMW Autohaus Fink, Erlangen and registered to Nurberg based Firma Manfred Niclaus GMBH in May 1991, this M3 spent its first 7 years in its homeland before being imported into the UK in 1999 and had 2 registered keepers prior to me purchasing the car from Reading based, Independent Motor Company in January 2001 who were a specialist importer of these and other rare performance BMW's at that time. The car has covered 90,273KM (56,093 Miles). Full service history with the BMW supplying dealer until 1998 having had its Pre-Delivery Inspection on 27th May 1991 and Running-In Service at 2,050KM on 13th August 1991. Six further scheduled services were carried out by the supplying dealer until August 1998 with the car covering 63,911KM. In 1999 once imported to the UK the service record shows three services with independent specialists until January 2001 / 81,284KM when I purchased the car. Thereafter servicing has been exclusively with renowned specialist Kevin Bird and the team at Birds BMW with itemised records of all work undertaken according to date and mileage. During my ownership the car has been comprehensively maintained and restored to an OEM+ spec(so not to 100% original factory specification). The body has had a full bare metal restoration and repaint by Greg Howell in its original BMW-glanzschwarz 668 (Jet Black). The underside remains factory unrestored original as does the exhaust which would benefit from a new rear box to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the car. The original grey leather with Motorsport colour Napa-Tex woven centres could not be restored as the material was no longer available so the interior has been retrimmed with Bridge of Weir GP38 red leather with a lot of the original interior fittings & trim including full carpet set having been ordered from BMW and replaced at the same time. Variations from original factory specification: Exterior: Front & Rear bumpers have had the recessed pinstripe line smoothed. The exhaust cut out on the rear bumper closed and the exhaust outlets turned down to be hidden underneath the car. BMW roundels removed from bonnet and bootlid. Doors and boot lid delocked - operating from the central looking and also a separate boot release under the rear bumper. MHW smoked rear lamp lenses - These are very rear and the proper TUV-approved version. All works professionally undertaken as part of the body restoration and bare metal repaint by Greg Howell Automotive Paint and Bodywork (greghowell.co.uk). A photographic record of the restoration is held. Chassis: Wiechers Racing Line Carbon front upper strut brace. KW Variant 2 adjustable suspension. Revised rear trailing arm geometry (by Motorsports specialists Primary Designs) to prevent rear wheels fouling the bodywork. A photo record of this is held. Engine Bay: Valve cover and plenum chamber covers refinished in black powder coat. Replacement 9 piece Samco silicon hose set with stainless steel clamps. Battery cut-off switch fitted. All works professionally undertaken by Birds BMW. Interior: Full retrim in Bridge of Wear red leather - seats, centre console and door card trim patterns all retained to factory spec. Genuine e46 m3 steering wheel complete with airbag. (As a late model car it was originally fitted with an airbag wheel (as seen on the 1st generation e36's) I still have this if required. Hartge aluminium pedal set and chrome plated pedal arms. Hartge gear knob and handbrake cover. Discrete Pioneer (single-din) bluetooth radio and Focal speakers (integrated in the original factory locations hidden behind trim panels - no additional holes cut etc). Boot floor and rear quarter panels sound deadened. A photo record of this is held. All works professionally undertaken by Birds BMW. Historic MOTs and Tax Discs dating back to 1999 are also in the history file together with the M3’s original service book. The car underwent a re-commissioning service & MOT (no advisories) at Birds BMW in October 2017 the invoice totaling £762 and in May 2018 had an overhaul of the electric roof mechanism. Additionally due to the age of the Bridgestone SO2 tyres, 4 new 225/45/ZR16 Toyo Proxes T1-R tyres were fitted and at the same time a full strip down and refurbishment of the OEM optioned 8&9x16" BBS RS wheels was undertaken by Wheelunique. The car had a fresh MOT in March 2019 (no advisories) with Birds BMW and an Inspection I service in addition to a brake fluid and coolant change. Further works totalling £3,800 including replacement of all instrument cluster bulbs, the OBC led screen, the Dip beam hydro adjusters and Headlamp aim adjusters was commissioned ensuring it is kept in top condition and will be ready to enjoy for the summer. The M3’s original service book, E30 manual, M3 specific supplementary manual and original spare key are all present together with invoices in excess of £40,000 spent during my ownership of the car as part of the comprehensive book pack and history file.
