1924 Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather Cabriolet For Sale

1924 Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather Cabriolet

Chassis number GMK9
Registration number: ND7562

Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1924 Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot Cabriolet for sale. Beautifully proportioned this Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all-weather 20hp cabriolet is by noted Builders Joseph Cockshoot of Manchester who set up as a carriage builder in 1844. Cockshoot bodied a number of early Rolls Royce Silver Ghosts that went to Maharajahs in India and are noted for the quality and stylish nature of the bodies they produced.

This Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot Cabriolet underwent a major restoration in the 1970's resulting in winning the Masters Trophy at the R. R. E. C. gathering. We like to properly road test all our classic cars we supply & prior to selling it three years ago we completed the Via Hellenica comprising of a 1, 500 mile loop though Greece in the company of another Rolls Royce Silver Ghost and twenty five other pre-war classic cars. The car performed flawlessly with no problems whatsoever. This with wife, 2 children & lugage on board.

The Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather cabriolet resplendent in maroon and black with the paint being of high quality and in fine order. To the rear of the car is a vast and immaculate motoring trunk who’s commodious dimensions allows for a plethora of luggage to be accommodated by it. To the interior, is ‘Bedford Cord’ and to the rear there are the useful twin fold out occasional seats, all being in fine shape. The front has patented antique style olive brown leather, again in fine order with some light creasing and patination. The Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather cabriolet comes with its starting handle and large tool kit in place & also a set of small tools.

A full quotient of period instruments adorns the wooden dash. The ‘V’ windscreen has a useful shelf behind it clearly and presciently intended by Messrs Cockshoot & Co to be the resting place for an iPhone when used in navigation mode. The windscreen folds open allowing for a pleasant breeze to come through in warmer conditions. The Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather cabriolet has a wind up division affording the rear passengers very good protection when in the up position with the windows up and the roof down.

The coachwork is of the highest quality and may be used in one of three configurations to wit: fully open, half open with the front folded back, or fully closed. There are three doors for ingress and egress with the driver exiting via the passenger front door. The front roof section has two latches and then folds easily back over the rear section. The rear pillars are spring loaded and easily allows the remainder of the roof to fold down which is then covered by a mohair hood bag. The hood is of recent construction and is like new; surprisingly snug when in the up position.

Under the bonnet the Rolls Royce engine is silent and beautifully detailed right down to the brass oil can sitting in its appointed place on the under tray. The engine is silent and pulls well allied to the ‘easy to use’ three speed gearbox. The Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather cabriolet sits on correct straight sided wire wheels shod with four good tyres. A single spare tyre sits in the passenger side running board. The Rolls Royce 20HP Cockshoot all weather cabriolet has a raucous Klaxon to augment the slightly more mellifluous bulb type ‘parp parp’ horn. The Rolls Royce engine runs equally well on either coil or magneto.

This is a very versatile Rolls Royce allowing for the carriage of up to seven people. It is in impeccable order running beautifully and carries its full complement of period fixtures and fittings. Much money has been spent on this Rolls Royce to bring it to its current fine order which, along with its rare coachwork, makes it a highly desirable car.
