Fully restored and in our ownership since 1994.
Full bare metal body restoration 2007 by VW Bodyshop Cheshire. Full photo record. Painted in original colours of Sea Blue under Cumulus White. Looks superb.
Headlining by Bromsgrove Trimmers. TMI interior trim.
MODIFIED. THE BEST OF EVERYTHING.
Current Spec is:-
Subaru 2ltr engine fitted by Fellows Speedshop, the leaders in this modification.Includes billet sump (not cheap welded thing) and quiet stainless steel exhaust.
Rear suspension is Creative engineering IRS using early bay A arms. Late bay drum brakes with all new internals.
Freeway flyer 1303 style gearbox.
Front suspension is Red 9 with rack and pinion steering and their 4 pot calipers with vented discs.
All sat on genuine Fuchs 16 by 6 alloys (no spacers).
Interior is set up with rock and roll bed and we use stick on blinds which have been added to to get the full Samba set. Propex heater with 'stat.
I have the original 2nd and 3rd row of seats. 2nd row has double tip down backs for access to both sides. These are not re trimmed. All the usual Samba trim bits are there and are all original, inc jail bars and bars on the back row of seats.
The vehicle came from Norway fitted with an AS spec 1600 twin port engine which I still have. Also got the original gearbox and rear hubs. Also got early bay hubs if you want to convert it back to original style wheels but keep the IRS. Also have the original 14" wheels. All will come with the sale.
We have owned and used this car for 24 years and will be very sad to see it go. It has taken us all over Europe including Croatia, East Germany, several trips to the Med and also two trips deep into Portugal.
Having been used this could not be described as a concourse car because I keep it Waxoyled underneath regularly rather than clean paint.
During the restoration, most of the bottom, but not all was done. The shell required NO welding or other work up top around the roof gutters. The cab doors and tailgate remain un welded. So it is an excellent vehicle.
It drives superbly and we assume reliability. We carry no tools when travelling in the UK.
