The M35 2½-ton cargo truck is a long-lived 2½-ton 6x6 cargo truck initially used by the United States Armyand subsequently utilized by many nations around the world. Over time it evolved into a family of specialized vehicles. It inherited the nickname "Deuce and a Half" from an older 2½-ton truck, the World War II GMC CCKW.
The M35 started as a 1949 REO Motor Car Company design for a 2½-ton 6x6 off-road truck. This original 6-wheel M34 version was quickly superseded by the 10-wheel M35 design. The basic M35 cargo truck is rated to carry 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg) off-road or 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) on roads. Trucks in this weight class are considered medium duty by the military and the Department of Transportation.
A transport legend on the battlefields of war the M35 was the go to transport vehicle for the USA for most of the second half of the 1900s. This truck as it stands today is a shadow of its former self although still a very formidable piece of machinery.
Although not barreling through a war zone this project with the right imagination has endless possibilities. You could put an RV camper on the back, turn it into a milk truck, or prepare your friends and family for the apocalypse. What ever you mind can think of.
A needle in a haystack you wont find this vehicle on ebay.
Powered by an in-line, 478-cubic-inch (7.8 L), six-cylinder, turbocharged multifuel engine there is nothing that will stand in your way. Unless we are talking about a tank.
Multifuel engines are designed to operate reliably on a wide variety of fuels, including diesel fuel, jet fuel, kerosene, heating oil or gasoline. Gasoline may be used only in an emergency because it does not properly lubricate the injector pump.
A 5-speed manual transmission and divorced 2-speed transfer case, the exterior has light oxidation on it and as you can see from the pics needs a paint. The interior seats have been worn out and look like they have been through a war or two. Might be a little bit of a restore but with a vehicle like this you would have probably wanted better seats anyways. The interior itself is not that bad and certain places just need a paint job. We have a video of the truck running and doing donuts on a dirt road and a ton more pictures upon request.
