This vehicle was commissioned and built by the factory in 2007 when it was SVA and VA tested in the same year. The emission limit - % CO 0.5; 0.3 FI HC 0.02 F1: Lambda 0.97-1.03).
The original was designed by the famous Colin Chapman as a small displacement racing car, purpose built for FIA group4 racing in 62-63. Relatively few ERA 30s were built and a significant number of those were exported – making this a rare example and a great opportunity to own this Lotus 23 replica by ERA which is in excellent condition. It is finished in Porsche Guards red with black and aluminium trim and was used by Tiger ERA Racing as their demonstrator vehicle from 2007-2009. As you can imagine it was built to a very high and exacting standard. The first owner acquired the vehicle in 2009 from Era and the car has covered a mere 1300 miles. The bill of sale is in the history folder. He carried out further improvements to the car to make it more usable for road and track and a little faster. This cost circa £14000 on the upgrades and modifications. It is fitted with a Formula Ford A 1800cc Zetec engine, the specification of this is as follows; 0-60 circa 4.8sec, 50-70 mph 1.9 secs and 50-100 6.7 secs. Fitted with twin 45 side draft carburettors, Webber alpha management to road and race specification.
The chassis is 90% round and square and is lightweight and powder coated, tube space frame, lightened body in grp and carbon with all wings in carbon.
Transmission is MK9 Hewland 5 speed historic, steering is road race rack and pinion 2.2 turns. The car is fitted with disc brakes all round with double wishbone front and rear suspension with trailing arms. Adjustable shocks, front track 1325mm, rear track1350mm, wheelbase 2330mm, length 3560mm, width 1630mm. Weight is 517kgs. The wheels are super light alloy 15”, tyres 205/50/15, noise level 98DB as of 3/8/2013, MSVR Brands Hatch.
The £14k upgraded specification post factory, includes sump shield, upgraded brakes, racing towing eyes, catch tank, modified rad, modified engine and boot catches, correct camber settings, fuel shields, modified pedals, Simpson sports stainless race exhaust and silencer, new racing Tillett seats with edges, pedal box, RAC race starter, lightened race flywheel, wheel alignment and carbs and mixture set up. The documentation relating to the upgrades is contained within the history folder along with the corresponding invoices.
The history folder also contains current and previous V5s, previous Mot certificate and related paperwork, Tiger Racing bill of sale, HPi report, invoices totalling £14k, full mechanical and chemical certificate BSEN10204 type 3.1 cert 13/9/2011, spec book, exhaust, plug, starter motor, gearbox, steering, brakes and suspension, electrical, rain light, bodywork , fuel, seats, books, and ERA build manual book, various other informative books and Lotus write ups.
