1961 JAGUAR MK2 3.8 AUTOMATIC OUTSTANDING RESTORED CAR WITH PAS ! For Sale
The Jaguar MK2 was produced between 1959 and 1967. With beautiful styling and performance to match, these cars were the first compact sports saloons and transformed Jaguar’s fortunes – for much of the 60’s there were waiting lists for them. The 3.8 litre with a claimed 220bhp was the most sought after, then as now and in the early 60’s it was the fastest four-door saloon on the market with a top speed of 125mph.
This car is a 1961 MK2 3.8 automatic in Old English White with red interior. This is a UK supplied right hand drive matching numbers car, still bearing its original registration number. It was supplied new in 1961 by Henlys in Manchester. It is in beautiful condition thanks to a comprehensive bare shell restoration carried out a few years ago but the car has been little used since. The body was chemically stripped, revealing an excellent shell requiring minimal repairs, then painted and re-assembled. The front suspension, rear axle, and brakes were rebuilt, as was the engine and gearbox. The history file contains photos of the work, invoices for the body restoration and engine re-build alone total £26.5k. The interior trim was also replaced and the car is fitted with new chrome wires and electric power steering. Total expenditure was substantially more than our asking price and only a few miles have been carried out since the restoration.
On the road this outstanding MK2 drives beautifully and has the tight feel of a fully re-built, sorted car - please see the additional photos showing the superb detail under the bonnet and underside. It also offers superb value.
Come with history file, original toolkit and some new spares. Ready to use. Delivery can be arranged. Please call if more detail is required.
