West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely stunning and exceptional example of this original California owner 1955 Pontiac Star Chief 287 V8 Convertible! Purchased new at 'Tom Ray Pontiac' of Glendale, CA in 1955 and recently completely restored in 'Nautilus Blue over White Mist' with a matching 'Blue & White' two tone interior and an always garaged California and Nevada rust free car with a new White power soft top and with its original 287 V8 engine with factory options including:
Dual Range Hyra-Matic automatic transmission,
6-way manual seat
Full pile carpeting,
Deluxe steering wheel,
Body side stainless molding,
Belt line molding,
Lower rear quarter panel & rear quarter panel & rear wheel opening stainless steel,
Full wheel covers,
Heater & defroster,
Beautifully finished in this highly striking 'Nautilus Blue over White Mist' two-tone color paint matched to a White top and 'Blue & White' interior with the floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas completely solid and rust-free and the car has no indication of any major accidents or rust of any kind - obviously an always garaged and cherished car since new!
With only obviously very few miles since its restoration, the car looks extremely impressive with all it's original logos and its original vintage 'Pontiac Chieftan' hood ornament, original 'Tom Ray Pontiac' dealer license frames and boasting all new chrome, refurbished stainless steel, a restored interior, brand new 'Classic Coker' wide whitewall tires and it's original spare wheel is in the trunk.
This particular car drives extremely well - a truly remarkable daily driver with the transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, a newly installed power brake booster and with the temperature always remaining cool!
Pontiac's sportiest and top-of-the-line 1950's model, the Star Chief had all new and typical Harley Earl styling for 1955 but with lots of brightwork, colorful two-toning and plenty of 1950's chrome and also of course boasted Pontiac's first modern V8. The car was easily identified by its chrome star trim along its sides, a feature all Star Chiefs were equipped with and between 1954 and 1957, the Star Chief was Pontiac's prestige model. When the storyline of 'I love Lucy' pointed towards a Hollywood setting in the 1954-1955 season, the characters "drove" to the West Coast in a 1955 Star Chief convertible. Typical for the 1955 Pontiacs is the design with two wide "Silver Streaks" running the length of the hood.
This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving and never abused example of a one family owner since new and recently restored and always rust free 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible in now as close to a pristine daily driving example as you will find and one very rare and highly desirable, collectible and unabused example of one of the outstanding mid-fifties classic American cars.
