1963 HILLMAN SUPER MINX EASY PROJECT,PLEASE READ For Sale
Ok it looks horrible but this car was road legal in 2015 and still has a good bit of it,s first day paint, originally Peterborough registered it shows 2 previous owners but 1 of those was 5 days so i presume a dealer. With Mot exemption, which this will qualify for makes a great survivor car, restore as you go.though i would patch up the sills first.more pics when she comes home.
I will not have the car until the end of next week when i will attempt to get it running.turns over with good compression.so no panic to view but if you think this could be your winter project feel free to register your interest,i always offer to the first caller.
Having given the car a good look over i class it as an easy restoration because of the following.
it does not need any panels other than sills.inner sills will need looking at.
it needs very little interior work.
it does not need any structural welding other than sills and very edge of floor to sill, mainly on the n/s.
All the trim etc is present
there is nothing hidden under new paint.
For the interior i don,t think you can get the distinctive leather pattern vinyl these Rootes cars had at this time and this one needs nothing more than dash crash pad,a tiny bit of piping where you get in and out on drivers seat even the carpets are usable, great headlining mint sun visors and good door cards.so very little expense there.and it has the option of 2 front seats and floor change.
Apart from the sill area mentioned there is very little welding required and it is all low down at sill level, wings are great, door skins very good and frames good too, might need some small repairs when you clean off the surface rust but these doors go again with no obvious previous repair.floors all good except join to sill, boot floor good, inner wings all good, arches decent, scuttles good. front panel great, rear panel great, boot and bonnet good too.only previous welding is to rear spring mounts.bumpers etc all straight.
Look beyond the faded scruffy paint and there is a very good car here waiting to be rescued or simply patched serviced and used rat rod style.
