A very sound early Gan1 midget built in1961. Most of the running gear has been rebuilt in the 4 years of my ownership. Front suspension rebuilt inc 400lb lowered front springs, 1.75 degree negative camber steel top trunnions,11/16 anti rollbar, latest adjustable front wheel bearings not the old angular contact type that gave play problems, king pins, steering rack, front discs, brake calipers aeroquip hoses throughout . Latest rear hub bearings new shoes,1098 rear brake cylinders, new brake drums, handbrake cable, New 1098 brake and clutch master cylinder plus clutch slave. All brake lines are now Kunifer including fuel line, New fuel tank and sender unit.Passed its last MOT in April with no advisories. Obviously now MOT and road tax exempt but I needed to make sure every thing brake wise was as it should be hence the recent examination. Starts on the button and runs very well. I did a compression test on the engine last week and all 4 cylinders were spot on at 150 psi, excellent oil pressure when hot and also runs very quite with no tappet noise but gapped correctly. I have fitted a new radiator and water pump etc which I replaced to give me piece of mind and with the extreme heat of late she ran perfectly with no issues even in traffic. The interior is lovely being so original with the harder to find Jaeger clocks with no extra switches or added instruments,it even has the original brass supplying dealer tag still on the dash, the seats are in need of repair through age but I do have the material which is a match for the existing material, seems a shame to replace with complete new covers. The whole car has an aged look about it.
make no mistake this no show queen but a lovely old car that looks like its 57 years old. Latest dynamator fitted producing 40 amps, electronic SU fuel pump, electronic ignition, all done to aid reliability plus now has H4 headlights which are so much brighter than the standard sealed beam units fitted before. I have kept all the old parts.The car is still positve earth. New battery, New wire wheels and Dunlop tyres. This car is fitted with a rare 1/4 elliptic spring narrow axle to allow fitment of the wire wheels, it is not fitted with adaptors. Original 15 leaf rear quarter elliptic springs which are harsh on potholes etc, rear spring hangers are rock solid and original.
Everything is present bumpers hood/hoops, tonnau etc.
This is a turn key old car that you could use every day as is. I like it the way it is. Only 22 of these early cars are left on the road in the UK today with 8 on SORN.
I think the price allows for paintwork etc and still be a good buy today. The price also includes two spare engines, one is a 948cc taken from a running Sprite and the other is a 1310cc stripped for rebuild but complete and is in excellent condition.
Any inspection is welcomed as I have nothing to hide. Only selling as I cannot move in my garage so something has got to go. The price is fair so please no more offers or p/x I am a private seller not a dealer, I just need the space.
