FOR SALE (SADLY - DUE LOSS OF GARAGE SPACE) IS MY 1968 MGC GT RCY 8G
SORRY NOW SOLD SORRY NOW SOLD
Bought in April 2003 as a 'Rolling Restoration' by August of that year there was not a lot of 'rolling' going on and a lot of 'restoration' required. After a cylinder head gasket failure plus ominous noises from the gearbox a decision was taken to strip out all the running gear and carry out remedial work to include: Clean & paint the under bonnet area along with the body shell front end.
Engine overhaul to include re-bore + new pistons, skim block & head, new bearings, core plugs, clutch etc. Gearbox/overdrive overhaul, new wiring looms, new fuel tank, new brakes, Spax adjustable rear damper conversion - far too much to list - it's all in the history file.
This was carried out over the next three years with the car returning to the road in August 2006 @ 79,800 miles. Thus, the car has covered 5300 miles in 12 years!
All invoices for the work carried out are present along with old tax discs & MOT's plus bills for work undertaken prior to my ownership. There are Rally Plaques and memorabilia including a full set of brochures etc. for the MGC 5oth anniversary at Chateau Impney (which will become collectors items in their own right?) plus high quality enamel badges (Register issue) for the 40th & 50th anniversary. A FULL set of Workshop manuals and parts books are present along with some left over spare parts.
Although Tax & MOT exempt a new MOT will be with the car valid to August 2019.
This is a good, solid and perfectly usable 'CGT' which can be enjoyed as is or be a base for further renovation to any standard required.
It is NOT a concourse/show winner/trailer queen & priced accordingly.
The gearstick 'sizzles' (noticable in 3rd& 4th gear) and the overdrive tends to stick in until the 'box has warmed up.
There are a few paint blemishes and some flaws/pitting on the exterior trim & brightwork.
Viewing essential and welcomed. Plenty of photo's available - ask if you would like some mailed out.
