The 'GTS' model was one of the rarest Minis produced and is effectively a 1275 GT Clubman with twin SU carburetors as standard and a rorty exhaust note to match. Billed as the rightful continuation to the Cooper S models, approximately 4000 examples only were built from 1973 - 1980 by Leyland South Africa, enjoying much success on the race track. This beautiful example just screams pure 1970's original patina, something that a restoration could never recreate, and is now undergoing preparation for UK registration having spent its life in warmer climes. There is evidence on file of recent engine, brake and transmission work and the car has clearly been cherished by, we were told, only three previous owners. This is a true ‘time-warp’ car and looks really outstanding. Original unmolested Minis rarely come onto the market and originality is key to value. Even the original carpets are in excellent condition and there is the correct 8000 RPM tachometer present showing its sporting pedigree. The engine bay is equally clean and very ‘period’. For the fuel conscious, the car also comes with a single carburettor conversion as an alternative.
