Triumph Spitfire MK 4, 1300; first registered 27/8/1971 and purchased by current owner in May 2015; recent full service and MOT till May 2019. A previous rebuild several years ago in Triumph New White, the car came in excellent condition and the current owner has spent many hours detailing and restoring her to glory. The paintwork is in fantastic condition and the car only goes out on sunny days! The chassis is strong along with the floor pans and in great condition. All body panels are straight and panel gaps are even.
The engine was rebuilt at the same time and has covered 14000 miles since then. All brake pads and shoes are in great condition [recent replacement of rear brake cylinders]. Twin SU carbs with K&N filters; the K&Ns were treated to a specialist refurb during the MOT. Electronic ignition, new spark plugs and new oil change. New oil filter and pressure switch fitted at the same time.
The car has been maintained and the engine sounds superb, complimented with a distinct note from the twin pipes of the stainless-steel exhaust. Who needs a radio! However, the car is fitted with an ariel in case you get bored with that note from the exhaust! An extra bonus is that the car has been sound proofed to eliminate some of those rattles and reduce vibrations.
All electrics are in great condition along with the standard Smiths instrument panel, complimented by a wooden dash board and a Motolita wood rim steering wheel and wood gear knob. The interior is in good condition along with the carpets and the carpeted spare wheel cover. The current owner also refurbished the boot interior and of course the engine bay. The engine bay has been detailed by the current owner and the paint work is as good as it looks in the photos.
The car may be recognised by some from its debut appearance at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2015 where the car appeared on the Club Triumph stand where she received much attention by many !
NB THE CAR IS ON SHOW AT THE MANCHESTER CLASSIC CAR SHOW SEPT 15/16TH
The owner has gone on to show the car at other classic car venues including the Manchester Classic car show. The time has come now for the owner to move on to a new project and with reluctance is handing over his beloved to a new home. Im confident that this car will give as much pleasure as I have had along with the interest it has generated among many from all walks ! The car is open for inspection and sensible offers!
