1970 1987 PHASE 1 PEUGEOT 205 1.6 GTI 3 Door 81K Miles For Sale
Rare phase 1. An original example, in graphite grey, registered in August 1987 to its first keeper in Salisbury, who retained it until 1992. It was then sold to its second keeper, who used the car for a few years, then put the car into storage in Exeter and then emigrated. The car was in the hands of the storage company for many years, stored securely and remained there, unused. It was subsequently purchased, in 2012, by the previous keeper, a car enthusiast, who spend over £1000 to recommission the car, including cambelt and water pump, battery, alternator and fuel pump (receipt on file). The original service book is on file (9 stamps), plus MOTs from 1992 (61,292 miles) and 1993 (69,953 miles). As the car was in long-term storage, there is no significant history available between 1993 and 2012. MOT and other history since 2012, including some receipts, are on file. The MOT expires on 10th May 2020. I bought the car in 2013, as part of a small collection of classics. I have always looked after it, treated it well and kept it garaged when not in use. I have enjoyed it immensely for the past 6 years and mileage is now 81,000. Now it is time to pass it on to its new keeper. It has been a very reliable, usable, little 80s classic. The condition of the car throughout is very original, genuine and consistent with its history. The bodywork has never been welded, retaining the original sills and pristine boot floor. The paintwork retains a nice shine as it has been undercover for most of its life, but there are stone chips on the bonnet and front valance and a few age related marks to be found elsewhere on the car. This is only to be expected and reflects that the car has never been resprayed. The original Speedline alloy wheels appear never to have been restored either, but the tyres have been changed in recent years and are in good condition, with good tread throughout. The sunroof and indeed everything else, works as it should, including the radio cassette player which is the original Phillips item. The interior, including the early phase 1 dashboard, glovebox, door cards and seats (with the early 'Biarritz' trim) are all in immaculate condition, almost like new. The car has electric front windows. The only non-standard features that I am aware of are a sunroof wind deflector and non-Peugeot mats. Mechanically everything is as it should be. The car has the 115 bhp 1.6 engine, which makes it a little bit quicker. The engine spins up and sounds lovely on the road and the handling is superb too. A Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser has been fitted (Scorpion Sterling Excel). If you are seriously interested and have any questions about the car, please give me a call. You are more than welcome to view the car, or have it inspected. I have a few spares that will go with the car, should you want them, including a spare front seat. A £200 deposit is to be paid to secure the purchase and the balance can then be paid by bank transfer, or cash on collection. Many thanks, Dave.
